Review of Sanguine Eyes (Book Three of Salt Lake After Dark) by J.K. Walker

Genre: Paranormal Fantasy

Book Length: (Est.): 306 Pages

Book Description/Synopsis:

Twenty months ago, Jasmine Bedeau found out that she’d been born a snow wereleopard and was dragged kicking and screaming into a paranormal world. Now she works for the local supernatural council as the resident troubleshooter, and she’s built quite an impressive résumé. She’s faced a serial killer, a berserker, a wendigo, and even zombies, but has any of that prepared her for what threatens her city?

The streets of Salt Lake City have been flooded with a mystical drug called Sanguine. Terribly addictive, it grants the user nearly unstoppable strength and speed, but as bad as it is, the real threat is the gang that’s pushing it. A pack of werewolves has invaded Jazz’s territory and started killing off the competition. To make matters worse, vampires have begun disappearing.

Even with the help of her friends and a mysterious new ally, will Jazz have the strength to stop the Loup Garou and find out what’s happened to the local undead?

Jennifer’s Review:

*I received this book free from the author in exchange for an honest review*

As of right now this is my favorite full-length book in this series. So much happens that it was difficult to find a stopping point. I literally fell asleep in the middle of a chapter because I didn’t want to put it down.

Jasmine’s world never slows down. From the moment she discovered she was a snow wereleopard and part of a supernatural community nothing about her life has been simple. I hate spoilers, so I will try not to give away too much, but it is very hard to give a little where this one is concerned.

Despite all of the ‘helpful’ people around her, Jasmine’s life turns completely upside down. She loses all she holds dear and her desire to do what right collides with the need for vengeance. As usual she will find the balance between the two and in the end she will get rewarded. But is she ready for all she will acquire?

From the entwined humor to the never-ending fighting to the heated passion this one seems to have it all. I absolutely cannot wait for the next book, Fallen Eyes, to hopefully be released soon.

My Favorite Laughable Moment: There are three that immediately come to mind. One, Angel talking about how she potty trained the twins. Two, Jasmine instructing Faith how to shift, including her response when Jazz tells her to get on her hands and knees. And three, I cannot believe Jasmine stole a vampire’s hair. All three had me laughing out loud.

My Favorite Quote: “If that’s what it means to be the lover of a vampire, I think I might be able to handle it.”

Overall, I give this 5 stars!
