There ain’t a rider that can’t be thrown. And large-animal veterinarian Regan O’Connelli was thrown hard when he discovered his fiancée with his best friend. Now he’s starting his life over at the Last Chance Ranch, run by the tightly knit Chance clan. But damned if his libido hasn’t perked up over the spirited redhead who looks a lot like trouble….
Lily King is the queen of anti-structure. Turns out, that makes running a horse sanctuary a challenge. Regan’s help is exactly what Lily needs—not to mention the seriously sexy sparks that are flying between them. Now she just has to convince this fallen cowboy to dust himself off and get back in the saddle…and into her bed!

Regan may have been raised in a hippy type lifestyle complete with peace, love, and drifting, but as an adult he wanted roots. He wanted stability. He thought he’d found that until he caught his best friend in bed with his fiancée. Six months later he finds himself actually thinking about getting back in the saddle, but it’s not the game calling him back onto the field of play, it’s the girl with the flaky side who paints her barn pink with turquoise doors and trim.
Lily found herself drawn to Regan the first time she’d met him, but she sensed he was broken and didn’t want to risk getting hurt herself. Not again. With a little help she realizes that she’s in a little over her head with the horse sanctuary and asks for Regan’s help. Of course that’s only the beginning of one crazily intense week between the two.
“Regan was impressive no matter what he was doing, but when he mounted a horse – oh, baby. That ramped up his sexiness quotient by about a thousand percent.”
This is a story about overcoming your past in order to move on with your future. It’s filled with humorous banter between Lily and Regan that makes you absolutely love both of them, and an intense connection that aids them in overcoming their own deficiencies and pulling on your heartstrings as they do.
My Favorite Laughable Moment: Muddy clothes and a washing machine that absolutely does not start itself.
“You didn’t turn it on.”
No, I didn’t, because I’m already turned on enough for both me and the washer to operate at top speed.
Well I guess that explains that! And yes, her response is perfectly justifiable! I’d have forgotten to turn it on too.
