Book Description/Synopsis:

Style and seduction collide in Jamie K. Schmidt’s Heat—sure to please fans of Fifty Shades of Grey—as the world’s best-dressed men and women shed their clothing . . . and their inhibitions.

On the run from her abusive fiancé, ER doctor Mallory Bryant arrives at her sister’s Connecticut resort desperate for a place to restore balance to her life. But Couture is more than a haven for the rich and fashionable. Beneath its elegant facade is an erotic playground where dominants and submissives play out their fantasies. At first, Mallory is wary of Max Spencer, the martial arts trainer acting as her bodyguard—until he introduces her to passion so intense she wants nothing more than to surrender to his touch.

As one of Couture’s most skilled doms, Max enjoys taking Mallory to the limits of pleasure. It’s a dangerous proposition, and as their sensual games draw them into a relationship beyond the boundaries of pupil and master, Max starts spiraling out of control. But when Mallory’s violent past catches up with her, Max knows what he must do: draw her closer than ever before, even if it means risking a surrender of his own.

Mindy’s Review:

*I received an ARC of this book free from NetGalley on behalf of Forever (Random House Publishing Group – Loveswept) in exchange for an honest review*

Mallory Bryant is on the run from her abusive fiancé’. She finds shelter at her sister’s resort so she can get herself together and figure out what her future plans are. She is an ER doctor and used to a hectic lifestyle, but what she finds at her sister’s resort will change her life forever.

Mallory has been assigned a bodyguard in case her finance’ decides to show his face and make trouble. Max Spencer is not happy about the idea of “babysitting” his boss’s sister. He, being a martial arts trainer, can show her some self defense moves, but when Mallory finds out what is happening in Club Inferno she wants Max to also be her personal trainer in pleasure.

This book has a great storyline, lots of laughter and an ex that will just not go away. The author draws you into this story and does not let you go until it’s finished. I really enjoyed ready this book, especially when I was able to laugh. You never know what can be hidden away in a small town.

My Favorite Laughable Moment: Mallory driving up to her sister’s resort and noticing the bushes for the first time.

My Favorite Character: I have to say that I really love Max. He is caring and passionate. He is very demanding when he needs to be and knows what he wants. Max can bring out his great sense of humor when needed, especially when Mallory tries to explain that she is broken.
