Genre: YA Paranormal Fantasy

Book Length (Est.): 311 Pages

Book Description/Synopsis:

The world has never been an easy place for impoverished teen Beau Tolson, but from the moment her sick mother is given months to live, Beau’s life takes an extraordinary turn.

In order to buy the only drug that can now keep her beloved mother alive, 16 year old martial arts champion Beau resorts to illegal prize fighting at East London’s most notorious underworld lair.

But that’s only the beginning of her troubles.

When some of her closest friends start acting weird, and a mystifying new boy turns up outside the school gates, Beau is told a life changing secret… That not only are some of her friends angels, but that she is going to become an angel too.

It isn’t long before she finds herself torn between the divine and this world; between her responsibilities and the colossal destiny that awaits.

Little do any of them know that a sect of ex-angels have also come to Earth, planning on kidnapping Beau for the very same reasons the angels want her: to fulfill a prophecy that involves this world and theirs, and who will rule it all until the end of time.

Mindy’s Review:

*I received this book free from the author in exchange for an honest review*

Beau has never had a chance to be a “normal” teenager. She is taking care of her sick mother and must fight to earn enough money to get the medicine her mom needs to stay alive. With the help of her coach she wins the fights needed on a monthly basis to get the medicine and make sure the bills are paid.

When some of her friends start acting a little strange and a new boy shows up Beau is about to learn a life changing secret. Some of her closest friends are angels, and she is about to become one as well. Beau is very smart and realizes very fast that this change will mean leaving her mother Sarah and best friend Dylana behind.

The author makes you feel the pain of a girl that is trying to save her mother and also having to leave her as well. Beau is also learning what it means to be in love, as well as starting to realize that she is about to face bigger enemies with the war that is coming.

This is a fast paced action fantasy with a touch of romance that pulls you in. The beginning was a little slow and confusing for me. It took me awhile to figure out what was happening and where the story was going.

I would recommend this to anyone that enjoys reading a good story about becoming a chosen angel. This is an interesting beginning to a new YA series.

My Favorite Laughable Moment: I loved when Beau’s best friend Dylana was let in on the secret.

“Oh. My. Gosh.” Dylana intoned behind the pillow. “Did I really just see what I think I’ve just seen?

“Depends,” Beau chewed her nails frantically. “What do you think you’ve just seen?”

“Er, wings!” Pushing aside the pillow, she choked her way to her feet. “Holy crow! Those are wings! WINGS!” Her reaction was far more dramatic than her friend’s when she first seen them.

My Favorite Loveable Moment: “Yes. I can’t help thinking it would have been different if they’d supported us. Funny think about two love struck teens,” she said wisely.

“Tell them to stay away from one another and they’ll move heaven and Earth to be together.”
