When adrenaline runs high, so does the force of desire…
For Shay Appleton, it’s love at first sight when a gorgeous stray dog is brought into the animal shelter where she works. She just knows he’ll make a terrific watch dog—and with an abusive ex who won’t let go, she needs all the protection she can get. But Shay never suspected that her new pet is actually a trained police K-9 named Bogart—until Bogart’s even more gorgeous, human partner shows up on her doorstep.
Officer James Cannon is one tall, strong alpha male who’s convinced that Shay stole his dog. But once he gets closer to the suspect, he realizes that this stubborn, independent woman not only needs a guard dog, she needs James as well. It seems that someone from her past is stalking her, and threatening her life. When danger meets desire, will James risk his career and his best friend…to protect the woman who’s stolen his heart?

Shay Appleton has issues when it comes to relationships. When she meets a stray dog at the animal shelter she knows he will make a great watch dog. Having an abusive ex that she feels is watching her gives her the idea that this could be just the pet for her.
Office James Cannon is a K-9 officer that has recently lost his K-9. While out on the search for his dog he gets tips that lead him right to Bogart and a very pretty, mouthy, stubborn woman. Thinking that she stole his dog James barges right in her front door to confront her and take him back.
Shay and James instantly have a connection with each other but with her past she must tread lightly to keep her past a secret. James being an officer feels the need to protect this woman but has no idea from what. But he will not take no for an answer when he feels so strongly for a woman that he just met. Not only did she steal his dog but she is also stealing his heart.
This was an okay read for me. I felt the book had way too much detail in places and not so much in others. However, I do love the connection that a police K-9 has with humans. Bogart can feel the emotions that come off and knows when he needs to protect versus when he needs to attack.
I would recommend this to anyone that likes a romance story that involves crazy ex’s who need to be dealt with.
My Favorite Moment: I really like when Bogart is torn between protecting Shay and obeying his partner. This really shows the emotions that a dog can pick up on.
