Review of Truth or Dare (Dare to Love #1) by Mira Lyn Kelly

Truth or Dare

Genre: Contemporary Romance

Hotness Factor: Cookies and milk with a side of steaming desire!

Book Length (Est.): 265 Pages

Book Description/Synopsis:

In a deliciously sexy twist on the classic game, USA Today bestselling author Mira Lyn Kelly proves that when playing truth or dare—always choose dare.

After her one attempt at commitment ends in the worst kind of betrayal, Maggie Lawson vows that the only people she’ll love ’til death do they part will be her friends. Unfortunately that means Maggie letting her bestie rope her into a year-long dating dare: score a new date each month or pay a penalty. Seems doable—until Maggie’s date stands her up, leaving only one option: the sexy stud who just moved in upstairs. The problem? He and Maggie can’t stop fighting—and that’s just the beginning.

His name is Tyler Wells and the last thing he needs is his neighbor distracting him with her girl-next-door smile and sharp tongue. Tyler’s in Chicago for one reason: to woo back his selfish ex in order to reclaim the child he once thought was his—and that means keeping Maggie out of his bed. A tall order, since Maggie has become a bigger temptation than he ever expected to face. But before they can even consider leaving the past behind, Maggie and Tyler must accept a brand-new dare: real, forever love.

Maggie “Apartment Two” is content with her life the way it is, and when her bestie, who’s just like her when it comes to romance, wants to change up the rules and start dating she tries to understand the reasoning, but when her friend turns the tables on her and includes her in this new dating game she wants no part of it. The things we do for our friends…even go on crazy dates for the sake of not losing a bet.

Tyler “Apartment Three” just moved in and already there’s a hot girl stopping by his door. He has too much going on in his life to get involved with a woman, no matter how hot he thinks she is, so what does he do? Oh yes, he’s a complete jackass towards her. Problem is, she was just trying to be neighborly and bring by homemade cookies and milk, but instead she kept them and offered up her own version of smack talk.

For months their relationship consists of hidden ogling and face-to-face smack talk. But when Maggie gets stuck in a last minute bind and is about to lose the bet she made with her bestie Tyler shows up and saves the date. The only problem with the last minute “fake” date is that it turns out to be a really good date and that leads to complications. It’s hard being friends with someone whose clothes you want to rip off.

Tyler and Maggie learn to navigate their new relationship while Tyler still holds onto the hope his past will become part of his present. When things suddenly take a drastic turn downhill its Maggie who stands by him…even at the chance of losing him. She’d rather him get everything he wants and lose him than have him and risk him always feeling like something’s missing. She just wants him to be happy even if it breaks her heart, and not even Hot Doc can completely patch it back together for her.

Truth or Dare is a sweet and funny story. It’ll make you laugh, it’ll pull at your heartstrings, and it’ll crank up just enough steam to get you sizzling.

My Favorite Laughable Moment: When Maggie started talking about a dirty dream she had and mentioned it involved one of her friends…and it wasn’t Tyler. Talk about an interesting trip to the emergency room.

My Favorite Moment: Maggie’s text to Tyler after their first time together and the stampede that followed.
