Review of Once Loved (Shattered Past #2) by Cecy Robson

Once Loved

When paths entwine passions cannot be denied.

Genre: Contemporary Romance, New Adult

Book Length (Est.): 244 Pages

Book Description/Synopsis:

He’s the campus golden boy. She’s picking up the pieces of her broken past. But in Cecy Robson’s scorching novel of second chances—perfect for readers of Monica Murphy and J. Lynn—their differences only make their connection more explosive.

Every memory Lety Tres Santos has from her childhood comes with a scar—some emotional, some physical. Her father is an abusive drug addict, and her mother enables his destructive behavior. College offers Lety a fresh start . . . until her father finds a way to ruin that, too. Now, after losing her scholarship to kick off junior year, Lety must somehow stay in school, pay tuition, and turn a deaf ear to the whispers that follow her. And she intends to do it all without Brody Quaid’s help.

Brody is a lacrosse star, a 4.0 student—and as a freshman, he fell hard for the beautiful and spirited Lety. But their relationship crashed and burned because he couldn’t break through the walls she’s put up around her heart. With Lety hurting more than ever, Brody strives to win her back and make her believe in real love and true partnership. That will mean opening up secrets locked away in his own past—and trusting someone more than he’s ever dared.

Lety knows how painful it can be to depend on the wrong man. She also knows how much Brody wants to do this the right way. But it takes more than sizzling desire to move on and build a future together.

Lety’s had a difficult life thanks to her father, but there will come a moment when she realizes that no more lines can be crossed and she’ll start to fight back any way she can. Standing up for herself, for her family, is what makes her so strong.

Brody looks like the perfect all-American boy on the surface and not even Lety knows everything that he hides beneath his cool exterior. But when Lety’s present comes in direct contact with his past, carefully built walls will begin to crumble and truths will be learned.

It’s a good thing Brody is so stubbornly in love with Lety, otherwise he would have just let her walk away when she did, but that’s not even close to the person he is.

In Once Loved hearts will break, new truths will be discovered about old lies, shots will be fired, families will shatter, and love will not only form it will blossom. This is a great book. I couldn’t put it down once I started it, and I cannot wait for the next one.

My Favorite Laughable Moment: Brody knows just how to get Lety to open up…speak to her in Spanish so when she replies in the way he wants no one around will understand. Or will they!

My Favorite Moment: When Brody talks about having kids with Lety likes it’s just part of their future and going to happen, but after she sees her brother’s baby born her reaction to having kids was perfect.

Lety Tres Santos has had a very rough upbringing. Her dad Carlos is abusive and destroys everyone in the family to make himself feel better. Lety is finally on track, away at college, and has goals and a bright future.

Brody Quaid is a star athlete and the ladies love him on campus. Although he can only see one female in his future he has to figure out how to break her walls down to gain trust. Lety and Brody have broken each other’s hearts before and he is determined to win her over for good.

Lety is forced to have the busiest schedule ever and lands a pretty awesome paying job taking care of the Moore family. Everything is looking up until Carlos shows his face demanding money from Lety. And knowing that her boyfriend is rich he will do what he has to do to make sure he gets the money he wants.

When all secrets are revealed between Lety and Brody the heat turns up to sizzling!!

Cece Robson does it again!! The author will bring out all of your emotions in this book. You will laugh, cry and yes the anger will build. I have never read a more entertaining series. I have fallen in love with all of the characters and cannot wait to read the next book. Yes, it is that good!

I would recommend this series to anyone that is looking for a great new book to read. This is one that is very hard to put down once you start.

My Favorite Laughable Moment: It is so hard to choose just one but I am going to go with Brody talking to Lety in Spanish at the Moore’s house to make her feel more comfortable about discussing intimate details. This was definitely one of the funniest things I have read in a while.

Another Favorite Moment: I have to give this one to the Popsicle and the conversation that takes place.
