Review of Too Hot to Handle (Boys of Summer #2) by Katie Rose

Too Hot to Handle

Pranks! Fights! And Sex!

Genre: Contemporary Romance, Sports Romance

Book Length (Est.): 271 Pages

Book Description/Synopsis:

Katie Rose’s Boys of Summer series returns for a delicious double-header—with the story of total opposites who are drawn to each other like moths to a flame.

Nikki Case is no fan of baseball. Her ex gambled away a fortune on the sport, and now her PR firm has tasked her with cleaning up the league’s most notorious bad boys. The New Jersey Sonics are known for wild womanizing and booze-fueled brawls, so Nikki expects the worst. Her first stop in the battle to win hearts and minds is star hitter Jake Baldwin—a legendary ladies man so smokin’ he threatens to melt her tough-girl armor.

Although his teammates prank her without mercy, Jake admires the way Nikki gives as good as she gets. She may be the queen of frost, but there’s kindling beneath those sultry curves—and he’s just the man to ignite it. But when a PR nightmare lands the Sonics in headlines across the country, Nikki is ready to walk. Only then does Jake realize how important she is to the Sonics’ success—and that winning the love of a good woman is no game.

Nikki isn’t the biggest fan of baseball, but she is one hell of a PR rep and she will fix the teams image whether they want it or not. And oh boy do they not want it. From pranks to bets she’s in for a very challenging time.

Jake loves his life of baseball and girls, but one little bet will turn him upside down and inside out. What started as a goal turns into something he can’t live without, but sometimes ourselves and our ways of life are the hardest things to get past.

Jake pulls out every sweet sexy thing to get what he wants, but when he realizes he actually enjoys what he’s doing lines get blurry and emotions twisted. Jake and Nikki challenge each other at every turn and it makes for an interesting read.

Too Hot to Handle is better than the first book in the Boys of Summer series. The storyline will draw you in, but I’m not a fan of Katie’s writing style at all, and if it wasn’t for the well-developed characters I’m not sure I could have finished it.

My Favorite Laughable Moment: The toothy smile she discovers in her drawer and how she quickly overcomes the obstacle.

My Favorite Moment: A public kiss meant to claim and the reactions it’s met with.

Nikki Case is not a fan of baseball more or less because her ex-husband lost most of their money betting on the games. Being a PR rep will land you some pretty amazing and challenging jobs. With Nikki being the best the Sonic’s hire her to clean up the team’s image.

Jake Baldwin has a bad reputation and an ego as big as they come. One look at Nikki and a wager from his teammates has Jake putting that big ego to work. Getting to know the real Nikki Case will have Jake making some very difficult choices.

This is the second book in The Boys of Summer series. I am still a big fan of baseball and really enjoy reading books that show the love for the game. I did enjoy reading this book. I really liked the main characters, I felt the romance and felling were true and real at all times. When you have a hot headed man to deal with it is always great to see a strong woman that can put him in his place without making him look weak.

I enjoyed the storyline more in this book. However, I felt the end just……well ended. Maybe I just personally wanted more.

I would recommend this book to anyone that has a love for baseball and a very hot shortstop.

My Favorite Moment: I really, really enjoyed how Jake just makes Nikki feel as if he is daring her to not like him.

My Favorite Baseball Moment: I’m a big fan so of course I love when the mound is charged!
