Review of Chasing Midnight (The Darkest Desires of Dixie #1) by Shyloh and Alex Morgan

Chasing Midnight

Southern gentleman….Yum!

Genre: Romance, Erotica

Book Length (Est.): 351 Pages

Book Description/Synopsis:

Quinn Mason is a young Southern gentleman. Perhaps, gentleman is a stretch for how he lived his earlier years. He was the kid whose life seemed charmed, a popular athlete in high school who won a full scholarship. Life was on track for him until the death of his parents. In one terrible moment, Quinn went from having everything being everything for his young siblings. He left college, and used the money from his parent’s life insurance policy to buy a bar. The bar supported him and the kids, affording him the ability to give for them the life they were robbed of, even sending them to college.

Mhisery Bellemy has returned to Midnight, reluctantly. Her mother died, and she is left to take care of her drunken father, and the family cafe´. She had escaped the small town’s clutches as soon as she was of age, and swore never to return. Now, her siblings have turned to her, leaning heavily on her for help. The woman who got out of town and made a life she loves is now forced, by the bonds of family, and the weight of obligation, to return and give up what she had worked to build for herself.

These two are unlikely to cross paths, but chance throws them into the right place at the right time. Quinn’s brother is the catalyst that brings Mhisery into Quinn’s line of sight. And that’s all it took, one look and he knows he has to have her. The golden boy athlete is now drawn to the tall, tattooed woman stepping off the last bus into town.

Will Quinn ever have the woman he desires, and make her his own, or will she return to the life she loves far away from the small town of Midnight, and Quinn, or will she stay and make a life with the man she loves?

Chasing Midnight tells a story of love, friendship, and sacrifice. This talented duo, Shyloh & Alex Morgan, will rip your heart out and have you falling in love with the inhabitants of this quaint, quirky, town. Welcome to southern seduction, and the town of Midnight, where the Darkest Desires of Dixie become a reality.

Mindy’s Review:

*I received this book free from the author in exchange for an honest review*

Mhisery Bellemy left Midnight behind to chase her dreams and swore to never return again, but she has been called in by her family to help take care of her dad that is killing himself with booze from the loss of his wife.

Quinn Mason has raised his siblings since the death of his parents. He knows what it feels like to grieve and to be angry. Purchasing a bar to earn income for his family so they can have a stable life helps with the hand they were dealt. One look at Mhisery and he knows he just has to have her. And who could resist a southern gentleman?

“Mhisery, right now I would love nothin’ more than to bury myself deep inside you, and keep myself there until neither of us can walk again. If you don’t want that, tell me now. Because if you agree, I plan on takin’ you up those stairs and making sure the only name on your lips the rest of the night is mine, or the good Lord above.”

Sometimes I felt really overwhelmed with everything that was going on in this book. I felt there was way too much description at times. There are so many characters that you tend to forget who the main characters are, maybe it is all of them but it really is Mhisery and Quinn’s story.

With that being said I enjoyed reading this book. The characters are very easy to fall in love with and the suspense in the story is very well written. The town of Midnight is very small and everyone knows each other, which can be good and bad. Overall it is a book that I would recommend to anyone that loves a great love story with suspense, hot tattooed main characters, and great sex with an emotional edge.

My Favorite Moment: I really enjoyed the first part of the book where the authors give a description of the small town of Midnight. It gives you a great visual of the town and the people.

My Favorite Moment: I absolutely love the bluntness of Quinn’s sister when it comes to dealing with her brothers.

“The next time you two wake me up, I’m not stopping with turning on a fucking light. I’m coming outside with a gun and the laws of family will not be in play.”
