Review of Zack (Cold Fury Hockey #3) by Sawyer Bennett

Zack

Sweet and quirky meets sexy and brooding.

Genre: Contemporary Romance, Sports Romance (Hockey)

Book Length (Est.): 294 Pages

Book Description/Synopsis:

Rising star Zack Grantham has been stuck in a downward spiral of grief ever since the car accident that left him a single dad and put his career on hold. Back on the road with the Carolina Cold Fury and still crippled by emotional baggage, he’s in need of some serious help with his son. But while the nerdy new nanny wins his son’s heart, Zack isn’t sure he’s ready for a woman’s touch—even after getting a glimpse of the killer curves she’s hiding under those baggy clothes.

Kate Francis usually keeps men like Zack at a distance. Though his athlete’s body is honed to perfection, he refuses to move on with his life—and besides, he’s her boss. Still, the sparks between them are undeniable, tempting Kate to turn their professional relationship into a personal one. But before she makes a power play for Zack’s wounded heart, Kate will have to open him up again and show him that love is worth the fight.

I’m a big fan of the Cold Fury Hockey series and Zack did not disappoint.

I felt so awful for what happened to Zack at the end of Garrett (Book #2) and was happy to see the next book in the series would be for him. He’s a sweet man with a slightly misguided thinking process when it comes to love. Not that I blame him after all that happened. After the accident he withdrew from everyone…except his son. If it wasn’t for the love of his son then who knows how much he could have withdrawn from life.

Kate is completely quirky and weird. She makes up names to call people, she sings silly songs, and she’s like the best nanny ever. It would have been completely impossible for Zack not to fall head over heels for her. I liked how she played her nanny role perfectly on the outside, even when Zack was breaking her on the inside, but she refused to give up on a broken man. In her heart she knew he needed her, he just didn’t realize it until it was too late.

I do have to warn everyone that this is a very emotional read. It deals with the loss of a loved one and how hard life can be moving on after the tragedy that took that person. It’s also sweet and funny with some hot moments mixed in. And I cannot wait for book #4 Ryker. It should definitely be a good read.

My Favorite Laughable Moment: When Zack meets Kate for the first time and then runs upstairs to call his sister. That conversation was pretty hilarious.

My Favorite Moment: When Kate finally explodes and defends Zack to Michelle. That is one crazy neighbor lady!

Rising star Zack Grantham had been struck with grief after his girlfriend died in a car accident. While putting his career on hold to heal from his surgery and raise his son he knows it is time to get back into the game. His sister has been staying with him and has agreed to help Zack find a live-in nanny to help with his son when he is away.

Kate Francis is a nerdy, very outspoken woman that is trying to get her degree and needs a job to help pay the bills. Being a perfect fit for the job, Ben falls in love with his nanny instantly. Zack feels jealous of the relationship and can’t decide if she really needs to be there.

Zack has not felt any kind of emotions from a woman since his girlfriend died only a short time ago. He is honestly starting to wonder if that part of him is dead as well until he sees Kate in the kitchen late at night with barley anything on.

I really loved this book. This is the third book in the Cold Fury Hockey series. I have to say that this series has not let me down yet. Zack’s story is like reading an emotional roller coaster that is totally worth the ride. Trying to overcome his own grief and allowing someone to make him feel again proves to be very difficult. Kate’s witty humor makes him smile and laugh when he really does not want to. And oh does she make me laugh.

Even if you are not a hockey fan you will love this series!

My Favorite Moment: I really loved the name she would come up with for Zack. They really seem to fit him perfectly.
