Review of Practical Passion by Elizabeth Delisi

Practical Passion

Never make assumptions…

Genre: Contemporary Romance

Book Length (Est.): 50 Pages

Book Description/Synopsis:

Julie Preston worked hard raising her younger sister Emily after their parents died, and creating a career. She gave up simple pleasures like love and relationships. So when a friend drags her to a singles bar, Julie’s ready for anything. She meets a gorgeous guy and they spend several passionate hours together. There’s real chemistry there, but Julie regretfully sticks to her promise: a one-night stand, no strings.

When Julie hires a tutor to help Emily pass English, she’s shocked to find he’s the man from the bar. Seeing him in her house makes it hard to keep her hands off him, but he isn’t looking for a long-term relationship since he’s a singles bar patron. Right?

How many miles can Julie jog before she gives in and jumps him?

Jennifer’s Review:

*I received this book free from the author in exchange for an honest review*

The storyline sounded sweet, but I wondered how so much story was going to fit in so little pages. I got my answer.

After their parent’s death Julie was raising her younger sister, Emily. Her life had been put on hold and her only focus was supporting her sister. Emily on the other hand wanted her sister to relax and get a life and meet a man.

Doug was memorized by Julie the moment he saw her and it led him to do things that were quite out of character for him, but things he would never regret. When he crossed paths with her a second time he knew it was worth the persistence and he’d patiently wait her out. But plans don’t always work out the first time and need to be rethought out. Plan B works much better and I’m positive he loved how it turned out.

“I want…I want…”

He looked up at her with a devilish grin. “What do you want? Your wish is my command, lady of my heart.”

“Everything. You. I want you.”

I wish all great relationships happened that easily and that fast.

I liked the interactions between Julie and Doug, they were comfortable and occasionally intense. The in-depth back story on her background that continually weaved its way through the pages I could have done without. For such a short story it kept pulling the focus away from the couple and put it on her and her sister. Not exactly what I would have expected for the length and if this was a full length novel then it would have been perfectly fine.

My Favorite Moment: Doug’s Plan B. He’s such a romantic.
