Three years ago, Annie had a three-day fling in Cancun with a handsome stranger, Dash. Two years ago, she gave birth to his son. Now, Annie’s son is fading away with a mysterious illness, and she must seek help from his father, who doesn’t know he exists. But Dash has news for her: first, he’s a werewolf; second, he’s about to be crowned their king; and third, their son has been touched by an ancient curse.
*I received this book free from Barclay Publicity in exchange for an honest review*
Annie is epitome of control. She’s scared of her son dying, she’s scared of the new world she finds herself in, and she’s scared the man she loves will never love her back, but she never shows it. She walks with her head held high and never shows one ounce of anything but strength. There’s only one person who can see the stress behind her beautiful eyes.
“Annie,” he greeted her, when she entered. “And this must be-” Total silence fell. She absorbed his stunned expression, followed by frantic calculation.
Dash never expected who’d be standing on the other side of his door. He never expected to find out he was a father, and even though he has his reasons for doubting the paternity the resemblance is too much to contest. Everyone else sees it too and some even try to use it against him.
“Dash didn’t know what she was thinking, but he had a fair idea he was in pretty big trouble. Kidnappers and assassins he could fight off, but the thin woman with the waffle scent and the laser eyes scared the crap out of him.”
She went to him hoping for answers to her son’s illness, but found herself being the target of a few crazy werewolves and a curse that she had to somehow end.
Heir to the Pack has it all…car chases, murders, curses, crazy twists, sexy werewolves, and one cute little kid. I found myself captivated by the story and unable to put it down. Either I was hoping for something to happen between Annie and Dash because oh how the tension was tangible, or waiting for the next attack so that I could figure out who the bad guy really was. The twists are great and I loved the ending.
I really hope the next book is about Gaelan. He’s great and his aversion to finding a mate and settling down just makes me want to see it happen even more.
My Favorite Heartfelt Moment: When a little boy tries to wake his father. He does the unexpected and shows his greatness.
