Titles Are Meaningless

Interesting New Twist on Vampires

Genre: Paranormal Romance

Book Length (Est.): 91 Pages

Book Description/Synopsis:

Vampires live among us but they aren’t the monsters that we’ve been led to believe. They live like we do; they breathe, they eat, they sleep, they love, they die. Theirs is merely a cursed race.

Upon their twenty-first birthday, females of this cursed race come into their powers and are forced to undergo a sacred rite with a male in their clan to bring that power to the surface. Olivia is only eighteen but her powers are coming to the surface much earlier than expected. The men in her clan are beginning to circle in an attempt to gain some of her power. Leaving her clan’s mansion, Olivia is now faced with the most important choice she’s ever had to make in her young life which is when she meets an unlikely ally.

Seth is a normal human who has the worst luck possible. That is until he meets a vampire “princess” with a target on her back. Now he’s caught in a deadly game where multiple lives are at stake.

Will Olivia be able to escape the grasps of those who want to use her or will she end up just another victimized pawn in someone’s bid for power?

Jennifer’s Review:

*I received an ARC of this book free from the author in exchange for an honest review*

Olivia is faced with a very difficult decision, the only problem is that she doesn’t have any time to consider her options and it won’t take long before her decision is made for her.

Seth may have followed Olivia because she’d used a little magic, but when she needed his help he knew what he was doing. Even after learning what she was, he would do anything he could to protect her. Seth is a really good guy with a lot of demons plaguing his heart, but he refuses to fail her as long as he has breath left in his body.

Lucian has known Olivia forever. She’d always been kind of a kid sister to him and he always swore to protect her, which he will do, even if he has to protect her from his own blood.

Titles Are Meaningless brings an interesting new twist to vampires. With so many vampire books out there it’s not often I see something new, but Alex Finnegan’s vampires are unique. The way they come into their powers, the differences between the men and women, the hierarchy amongst their kind…it’s all quite fascinating.

The downside is that even though it’s written in third person it changes focus on who it’s following from one paragraph to another at times, and because of that the beginning of the story took a little bit to get used to, especially with all the new character introductions. There are also some editing issues, but I think if they are resolved it’ll bring a better flow to the story.

I should also note that this will be a series. It doesn’t end on a big cliff hanger, but for all you romance addicts like me the ending will be slightly disappointing.
