Review of Taking It Off by Claire Kent

Taking It Off

Stripping Him Bare

Genre: Contemporary Romance

Book Length (Est.): 258 Pages

Book Description/Synopsis:

Can’t get enough Magic Mike? Let bestselling author Claire Kent introduce you to Matt Stokes, the sexy-as-sin male stripper and club owner who knows what it really means to bare everything.

Preschool teacher Elizabeth Marks isn’t exactly thrilled to be attending a college friend’s bachelorette party at a male strip joint. The sights—screaming women, half-naked hunks—are just as sleazy as she expected, with one exception: the man standing at the back, radiating sensual heat despite being fully clothed. When Elizabeth takes refuge outside, he chases her down and dares her to stay. It turns out that her mystery man is the owner—and, as tonight’s headliner, the one guy Elizabeth wouldn’t mind seeing naked.

Matt Stokes lives his life one day, one dance at a time. But as he challenges Elizabeth to get in touch with the passionate, impulsive woman behind her prim façade, she brings out another side of him as well. This girl isn’t just another pretty face—or paying customer—and Matt can’t help wanting more. Onstage, he’s used to exposing his body. Now Matt will have to expose his heart. Because when it comes to real love, that’s the one striptease that matters.

Matt didn’t work in the strip club, he owned it, and his stripping days were behind him. That is until Elizabeth and her blatant disinterest in his club has him not only dancing again, but also finding ways to keep her coming around.

He knew he wasn’t good enough for her, he wasn’t that delusional, but he also knew he wanted her and he planned on getting her. A few passionate nights and then he’d let her go forever, the only problem with that is sometimes things are harder to let go of than anticipated.

Elizabeth knows what kind of future she wants. She wants the fantasy, the perfect successful husband, the white picket fence, and two point five kids and she’s not willing to settle for less. But maybe she can let herself have a little bit of fun with Matt until she meets Mr. Right.

She realizes she shouldn’t want him like she does, but when emotions get involved she won’t be able to dismiss him as easily as she’d hoped. Not even when she’s thrust into the lime light in the most humiliating way possible will it deter her feelings.

She’ll strip him bare and love the man beneath the persona he shows the rest of the world.

Taking It Off is sexy and emotional. It’ll turn you on and warm your heart.

My Favorite Moment: I loved the first time Matt chases Elizabeth from the club. I never expected the outcome of their argument to end the way it did. Damn!

Elizabeth Marks is not excited when she attends a bachelorette party at a strip club. She just cannot understand what is so appealing about watching guys take their clothes off and grind against you. She is a woman that was raised to always act like a lady and make her parents proud. Her father is in politics so she has always had to watch what she is doing in the public eye.

Matt Stokes is the owner of the club. He took over the business when his father passed away. Matt has lots of responsibility when it comes to the club and taking care of his mother. One look at Elizabeth and he wonders why she is not having fun at his club.

Matt convinces Elizabeth to accept a bet. She has to come to the club twice a week and try to find out if she can take a chance and enjoy herself. She accepts the bet but cannot for the life of her understand what the big deal is. That is until Matt takes the stage himself. Her body comes to life alright. When the feelings start to spark between them the public finds out as well.

Its  a big decision when you are deciding between love and what is expected of you.
