Review of Countdown to Zero Hour ((Black Ops: Automatik) by Nico Rosso

Countdown

Deep Undercover

Genre:  Military, Romantic Suspense

Book Length (Est.): 233 pages

Book Description/Synopsis:

Former Special Forces agent Artem “Art” Diaz is tattooed, muscular and undeniably dangerous. He’s also deep undercover, posing as mob muscle for a deadly bratva boss. His mission: gain the Russians’ trust. Then lead the strike team that will take them down.

Chef Hayley Baskov knows better than to get involved with someone with such close mafia ties, but the handsome bodyguard who brought her to this sprawling estate full of ruthless mobsters is inexplicably kind. A little flirtation may keep her safe amid the growing menace.

As Art’s timetable for action escalates, so do his encounters with Hayley. Stealing what illicit pleasure they can keeps them both sane in the face of evil. But when things get dangerous, Art has to tell her about his assignment, bringing her deeper into the shadowy world of black ops…and putting her life on the line.

Now Art has a new objective: protect Hayley from the men who’d see them both dead.

Book one of the Black Ops: Automatik series.

Mindy’s Review:

*I received this book free from Netgalley on behalf of Carina Press in exchange for an honest review*

Artem Diaz is a former Special Forces now working deep undercover for Automatik. His mission is to gain the trust of the Russians and lead his team to a major take down. Art also has a personal reason for wanting this done. Getting revenge for his father’s death.

Chef Hayley Baskov has been working her tail end off to get ahead in life and in her career. Having her ex take everything from her has her down in the dumps but will to do anything to get her dream to come true of opening a restaurant. Working in the right place at the wrong time will lead her into a good amount of cash and a deadly situation.

Art knows that he is putting Hayley in the middle of a time bomb and will protect her at all costs even if it means putting himself in harm’s way.

I am not a big fan of male writers when it comes to anything romance. However, Nico knocks this one out of the park. The chemistry and romance between Art and Hayley has you not being able to put the book down. The suspense has you on the edge of your seat. Knowing Art is finally opening up for the first time with someone melts your heart. I really, truly loved reading this book. Not to mention Art is a big dose of tattooed hotness!

My Favorite Moment: I loved when Mary gave Hayley advice on handling a weapon. Best advice I have ever heard.
