Guardian Witch Book Three

Friend or lover. Life or death…

Supernatural cop Ari Calin arrives at the hostile Toronto vampire court with an ultimatum from the Riverdale vampires: Sebastian, Toronto’s vampire prince, must stop his unprovoked attacks—or else. Ari wasn’t expecting a fight—the “or else” was typical vampire grandstanding. But even with vampire Andreas De Luca by her side for a show of strength, things get ugly fast. Toronto’s vampire world is in crisis, and surrounded by enemies, Ari and Andreas find themselves under attack.

That’s when Ari gets the call from the Magic Council ordering her home. Steffan, a good friend and leader of Riverdale’s werewolves, has gone missing during top secret negotiations with the US government, and is believed to have been kidnapped—or killed.

Andreas can’t abandon the Toronto vampires, and Ari can’t leave him to face impossible odds alone. But neither can she disobey her orders from the Council, or leave her friend Steffan to be tortured and killed. Ari’s loyalties pull her in two directions—the closest thing to love she’s ever known on one side, and friendship and duty on the other. If she can stay alive long enough for the choice to matter…

Jennifer’s Review:

*I received this book free from Red Moon Book Tours in exchange for an honest review*

Things just cannot be simple for Ari, if it’s not one thing it’s something else. She lost her mentor in Fire Within, but she got back her family’s Book of Shadows, and it couldn’t have come at a more perfect time. She’ll need everything she can get when Andreas is threatened, Steffan is kidnapped, and there’s a missing kitty to add into the mix.

“Good to know. Nevertheless, we need to stop the bleeding. The bite is deep.” Still holding her hand, his voice held a question. “My saliva wills top the bleeding by coagulating the blood.”

“You want to lick it?” Ari made an effort to keep her voice neutral, as if this was a perfectly normal development. But, ew! Wake up call. Boyfriend was a vampire.

After all the chaos Prince Sebastian has caused Andreas will go to petition his court to cease all malice behavior toward them, and he’ll do it with his power little witch beside him. Of course nothing will go as planned. But in the end he’ll end up right where he wants to be.

Burning Both Ends is just WOW! Each page is filled with action and suspense. There’s so much going on that it’s almost impossible to put down. Can’t forget about the romance either. It may not be steamy, but it’s certainly entwined within the story enough to keep Andreas and Ari’s relationship known. But to be completely honest with all the kind of “fade to black” intimate moments I’m not entirely sure if they’ve actually slept together or not.

I’d also like to note that there are several new characters added in this book, but Gabriel is by far my favorite. The things that come out of his mouth add a little humor and lightheartedness to the story.

My Favorite Moment: I really enjoy Andreas and Ari’s relationship. If it wasn’t for the bond they share I’m not sure if she’d ever actually go out with him. She doesn’t know much about vampires, just what she needs to know for her job, and that doesn’t exactly scream boyfriend material. But he’s known to charm her every time.

“…. The smell of your blood is pleasant, but it does not tempt me to feed from you. Of course,” he added, with a devilish gleam, “there are certain times when even an experienced vampire is tempted to bite. It is very pleasurable for my kind. Enhances other enjoyments. The state of our unbroken skin should be testimony enough of my control.”

“You could have stopped with ‘it does not tempt me,'” Ari said. “The rest isn’t very reassuring.”
