GET TO KNOW THE BODY SHOP BAD BOYS
Johnny, Foley, Sam, and Lou are the rough and tumble mechanics of Webster’s Garage. These reformed bad boys are used to living fast, but it’s the women in their lives who take them from zero to sixty in a heartbeat.
Johnny Devlin’s a charmer with a checkered past. He’s has had his eye on scorching-hot bartender Lara Valley for ages, but she’s rejected him more than once. That doesn’t mean he won’t come to her aid when some dirtbag mauls her. When she asks him on a date as a no-strings-attached thank you, he can’t say no. And then he’s saying nothing but hell, yes.
*I received this book free from Sourcebooks Casablanca via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review*
Johnny is a hot mechanic and a bad boy with a sweet heart…a deadly combo. He’s persistent and a full blown smartass, but he’ll protect his family no matter what.
Lara is a nursing student who waitresses and tends bar to pay for her education and living expenses. She’s one determined individual and the last thing she needs is some tall sexy trouble sweeping her off her feet. She already has enough family drama to last a lifetime. I mean with what her sister’s ex dishes out, not to mention how her sister acts too, I’m surprised she even wants to interact with them. But she does and that’s one of the things that makes her great.
I read someone else’s review and apparently this series is a spin-off of another series. If you’ve read the previous series then great. If you’re like me and did not then you may feel a little lost at times like I did. Especially in the beginning. There are so many different people introduced right from the start that it was overwhelming. At times I couldn’t tell who was talking and who the leading character was even supposed to be.
There’s also a lot of rambling narrative throughout the book, which tended to make me lose interest, but when Johnny and Lara actually interacted my attention was fully on every single word. The way they interact, as if there are no rules as to what can come out of their mouth’s, is not only refreshing buy also funny as hell.
“When are we going out again?” he asked, and leaned back against the wall facing her. “I mean, we are going out again, right? You didn’t just use me for a quickie, did you?”
“First of all, quickie?” Her heart raced. He wants to go out again. Imaginary fist pump. Yes! “I was begging for you get me off, and you took forever.”
“Someone needs to learn a little patience.” That familiar smirk was back.
“For-ev-er,” she reiterated.
My Favorite Moment: I have so many conversations between Johnny and Lara highlighted that I can’t possibly pick just one, but when you even use sass when asking for something important…like forever…that is hard to top.
