Ezekiel “Zee” Chase has a complicated past. Born into a family whose wealth grew from the seedy world of big-time crime, he ran away as a teenager and made a home for himself on the streets of Detroit. By day, the mechanic works at a local garage. But by night, he throws down with the best of them in Detroit’s gritty underground fighting scene. With all those muscles, he’s never had trouble with women–until he meets one who challenges him to the greatest fight of his life. . .
Tamara Eliot is a hardworking corporate high-flyer who appreciates the finer things in life, from her expensive perfume to her designer handbags. More than anything, though, she likes to be in control–and when Zee explodes into her life, she feels anything but. He’s the definition of a bad boy: brash, fiery, and of course, irresistibly hot. And there’s a darkness about him that keeps her coming back for more. As Zee takes Tamara deeper into a world she never knew existed, she just might prove to be the one opponent he won’t be able to dominate–at least not without some pleasurable convincing . . .

Ezekiel “Zee” West has a past that he has been hiding from for ten years. To release frustration he does underground fighting, runs a self-defense class and works as a mechanic. No one truly knows the real him and he seems to like it that way. He has friends that he calls family and an unlimited supply of women if needed. Growing up on the streets of Detroit in a part of town that most people would run from has made him strong and wise.
Tamara Lennox grew up in a wealthy family. Trying to follow in her father’s footsteps she has everything going for her. All is good except she feels like she is living in a scripted movie and she cannot break away from the script or all her secrets are going to come out.
Tamara goes with a friend to a self-defense class and is smitten by the bad boy teacher. Even though he is arrogant and has a bad mouth she cannot decide what it is her body is reacting to. He thinks she is a little rich girl in a part of town that she does not belong. Being stranded by her friend he has no choice but to make sure she gets back to her apartment and is safe. When they get a little too close to each other emotions start to heat up. Tamara just wants to get out of her every day scripted life and wants to be herself, she finds she can do that with this bad boy. But what she cannot do is get him out of her system.
This is the first book in the Motor City Royals series. It was fun to read about two people that think they are broken and confide in each other. The main characters are flawed and they don’t realize they are actually healing each other. The relationship that they agree on is raw and dirty. Once the secrets start to come out and Zee has to face his past he knows that one main concern is keeping his friends and Tamara safe. Even if that means completing a suicide mission.
