Review of Obeying the Bear (The Callaghan Clan #1) by Meredith Clarke

Obeying the Bear

The bear always comes first…

Genre: Paranormal Romance

Book Length (Est.): 40 Pages

Book Description/Synopsis:

Emma Davis tried to escape her life in Alaska. But when she hears about the death of someone close to her, obligations force her to return to the family she abandoned. The Callaghan bear clan had been her home for years, and Brandt Callaghan her mate. He’d done everything right and had always taken care of her. Yet it was her bear’s restlessness that made her run, and the lack of choice that frightened her human half. But now she’s back, and Brandt is as tempting as ever. Emma suddenly finds it hard to choose between the life she left and the one she’s discovering she always desired.

Brandt Callaghan wants nothing more than to take a break from the pressure of being his father’s oldest son. Yet a family tragedy puts him in the spotlight as the next clan alpha. He thought he’d never be able to face that challenge…until Emma comes back into his life. Her presence gives him the strength he needs to lead the Callaghan clan and the confidence to fight for his mate. But as tension within the clan increases, and Emma’s life is threatened, Brandt is forced to protect what he loves. At any cost.

*This story contains strong sexual themes, sensual shifters, and delicious romance for insatiable appetites. It is intended for a mature audience. This is a stand-alone novella with no cliff-hanger. *

Emma ran from pack life. Her bear wasn’t happy, and therefore neither was she, so she didn’t really have a choice in the matter. But when a life is taken she knows she has no choice but to return, if only to show her last respects. Problem with that is not only did she leave the pack, she also left her mate, and oh how her bear missed his.

Brandt was heartbroken when his mate left without so much as a note and now that his father has been murdered he’s overwhelmed with grief and responsibility. Never did he expect to see Emma back, yet when she shows up it’s not his anger that greets her…it’s his bears desire.

“Okay lovebirds. Everyone’s watching and its quite obvious how excited Brandt is.”

Emma and Brandt will be faced with disapproval, treachery, and a seemingly unfair fight, but together they are stronger. Together they will start a new reign and it will all start with being fair and honest.

Obeying the Bear is a quick and satisfying read. If you want a little suspense, mixed with a sexy shifter, and a whisper of betrayal then this book is perfect.

My Favorite Moment: Nothing like an old werewolf witch to whisper chants and make you wonder.
