Review of Secret Nights with a Cowboy (Kittredge Ranch #1) by Caitlin Crews

“Are you actually, deliberately, trying to drive me insane?”

Genre: Contemporary Romance, Western Romance

Length: 398 Pages

POV: Third Person

Description:

A man holding on…
Riley Kittredge has always known exactly what he wanted. His land, his horses. His woman. He met and married Rae Trujillo far too young, and their young love combusted right after they said their vows. But their passion has never managed to burn itself out. Yet when Rae shows this time, it’s not a night of pleasure she demands, but a divorce.

A woman letting go…
Rae should have moved on a long time ago. She knows she and Riley just don’t work. They might make great lovers, but that doesn’t make a marriage. And now Rae wants a new life, complete with a baby. But when her husband offers to be a father, to give her the family she’s always secretly desired, she and Riley will both have to face demons from their past—and choose love over fear at last.

Jennifer’s Review:

*I received this book free from St. Martin’s Press via NetGalley.*

My review comes with a **TISSUE WARNING!**

Neither Rae, nor Riley, had the best family examples on how to have a successful marriage. That didn’t stop them from trying though.

Not long into their marriage Rae had kept a secret; one that was slowly killing the person she was. Instead of sharing her burden, she held it all inside and let it poison her mind, her marriage, everything…until moving on felt like the only thing that could save her.

Riley had loved Rae since forever and not even her walking out on him, or her returning only for the nights, or her asking for a divorce would ever change that. What he decided needed to change was himself. He tried being her friend, tried playing her wingman, and then tried friends “with benefits”. Nothing changed the fact he loved her. Not even her confession. Or the fact that she was determined to move on.

Secret Nights with a Cowboy was realistically emotional. The predicament these two leading characters find themselves in could happen to any couple. Watching them try to move on and failing desperately so, watching them fight their desires for one another, and then watching what needed to happen…the confession, the blowback, the emotions that overflowed from the pages…yes, I found myself wiping my eyes more than once. Then watching as realization sunk in for Riley and their entire lives changing with that little bit of hope they each gained. And I absolutely loved the ending!
