Review of Dirty Like Brody (Dirty #2) by Jaine Diamond

“Don’t ever leave me…

I can’t fucking breathe without you…”

Genre: Contemporary Romance

Book Length (Est.): 400 Pages

Book Description/Synopsis:

He was all she ever wanted. Then she broke his heart…

As longtime manager of Dirty, the hottest rock band on the planet, gorgeous and brooding Brody Mason has had his share of beautiful women. Yet the only one he’s ever wanted is the one he never had—the one who tore his heart out.

Beautiful and elusive Jessa Mayes appears to have it all. Talent, money, and a glamorous life. But she also has a secret. Six years ago, she ran away—from her dream career as a songwriter with Dirty, and the only man she’s ever loved—without telling anyone why.

Now Jessa’s doing the one thing she swore she’d never do. She’s coming home—to be a bridesmaid in her brother’s rock star wedding… and face the mistakes of her past.

It won’t be easy.

Love this intense never is.

Dirty Like Brody is the second full-length novel in the Dirty series—a rockstar romance series about the members of the rock band Dirty and the women and men who love them.

Novels in the Dirty series are interconnected standalones, each with an HEA. (There are ongoing storylines that develop throughout the series, so reading them in order is not crucial but is recommended.)

YAY – Double Review!

Jennifer’s Review:

*I received an ARC of this book free from the author in exchange for an honest review*

I remember bits and pieces about Jessa from book one, Dirty Like Me, but I never would have guessed her significance in Dirty if it wasn’t for this book. Her story is not one I would have expected, which made it all that much more interesting. She has secrets….oh so many secrets…and not only will she learn to overcome them, but to finally admit all her failures to the people whose opinions will make or break her. Especially Brody’s.

Brody survived an abusive childhood, running with a not so good motorcycle gang, and broken heart that continually haunted him. Now as Dirty’s manager and Jesse’s best friend he had it made. All he was missing was the one who owned his heart and consumed his mind…Jessa.

Brody has loved Jessa since she was 15. Jessa, on the other hand, has basically loved Brody since the first day she met him when she was eight. But her life took her down a winding road that led far from where she wanted to be and although no one was willing to give up on her it took her a while to realize that. Years away from her brother, the band, and Brody only proved how much she missed and needed them. Thanks to Jesse’s wedding she got her reason to return and thanks to Brody she had a reason to stay.

Dirty Like Brody is an entertaining ready about would’ve, could’ve, should’ves. It’ll give you a taste of the dark road drugs can lead you down and the hope and love family and loved ones are capable of giving when you need it.

As for heat level, it wasn’t as dirty as the first two books, but it did have its moments. On the downside there are some flashbacks that aren’t always easily identifiable until you’re well into them. They weren’t a bad thing necessarily it just threw off the reading flow at times.

I may be a little weird, but my favorite moment was a little semi-awkward moment for Jessa. Way to go Brody, nice way to change the subject!

“Just…talk about something else.”

“Like what? Like how I’m gonna slide my tongue between your legs the first chance I get?”

“You are?”

“Yeah. Definitely. You gonna let me?”

“Um…okay…”

Brody Mason is the manager for Dirty. He had his heart broken and when she comes back to town all of those feeling will come to the surface.

Jessa Mayes returns to her hometown for her brother’s wedding. She has a modeling career that keeps her gone all of the time. Not really wanting to return back home she knows it will break her brother’s heart. To keep her heart safe she just wishes that she does not have to run into Brody.

This is the second book in the Dirty series. I was not sure who this book was going to be about at first. I love that it was about Jessa. She is running from her past and does not want anyone to know why she left in the first place. While she is home she does some soul searching and realizes that she might have made a mistake leaving. Learning Brody’s true feelings about her will definetly give her a wakeup call.

This was a very good read. I love that we get to dive right into Jessa’s story. She has a past that she wants to stay hidden but does not realize that she has a family that would have done anything to help her. I instantly feel for Brody from the beginning. The one person that he loved ran off and didn’t even try to contact him over the years. When they are forced to deal with their issues the chemistry is still very strong.

I cannot wait to see where this series take us.

Even if he can win her love, will this strong-willed woman be open to the world of bondage and submission? Book 3 in the Nordic Lights series

Ingvild will do anything to protect her family. Getting involved in her brother’s mess she finds herself having to try and clear his name. The one thing she has to do is steal a priceless family heirloom from a home. She thought this would be easy. That is until she ends up in a fight with a man and a bullet in her shoulder.

The only thing Askel loves more than building his custom furniture is to let his Dominant side come out and play. In a desperate plea to find the woman that stole from him he goes to a party that his close friend invited him to. When he takes his first look at her his body comes to life.

Askel learns the truth about Ingvild and wants to protect her from the Neo-Nazi leader that is after her. As they get close to each other and learn that they have similar interest the pages become scorching hot. The chemistry between them is electric. Not only is she a perfect sub, she is a perfect match for Askel in every way.

This is the third book in the Nordic Lights series and another great read from Christine Edwards! The storyline is great, the heat level is scorching and the characters are very easy to love.

My Favorite Moment: I really like when they run into each other for the first time at the party. There is nothing like seeing who you are really dealing with.

Mindy’s Review:

*I received an ARC of this book free from After Glows Publishing via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review*

Harmony has always been attracted to the local MC’s President and Vice President. Now that Harmony is paying off her mother’s debt to the local MC and they learn about her naughty fantasies they make her a slave to the MC.

I have been debating on how I want to rate this book. The title of the book is exactly what you get. The storyline is solid, the men in the book are true alphas,  and you are warned in the synopsis that she becomes a slave to the local MC. However, I am still trying to put my thoughts together. I love alpha men, I love bikers and I love when they are combined into a great read. What I am not sure about is Harmony. Yes she has fantasies and she becomes a true slave in this book. No back talk, no resistance, just does as she is told. WHAT?

Overall this is a good fast paced read.

Review of Devil’s Own (The Devil’s Keepers) by Megan Crane

“He was her heroin. And he was right in her face.”

Genre: Contemporary Romance, Suspense

Book Length (Est.): 202 Pages

Book Description/Synopsis:

Lara Ashburn hates bikers. She watched a motorcycle club destroy her hometown, bringing her brother down with it. That’s a life she put far in her rearview. So the last person she wants to see walking into her classroom is the top enforcer of the Devil’s Keepers. Big, mean, and gorgeous, all tattoos and leather, Chaser is everything Lara should avoid. Yet the insane chemistry sparking between them tempts her to break all the rules.

Ryan “Chaser” Frey has his hands full with a teen daughter in need of tough love, and he doesn’t have time for prissy teachers who want to tell him how to raise his kid. But Chaser never could resist a chick who gives as good as she gets. Lara is sexy as hell, and she’s not afraid of him. Plus, her links to a California club could provide the Devils with leverage against their enemies. But that would mean mixing business with pleasure—and risking the one woman Chaser can’t afford to lose.

Mindy’s Review:

*I received an ARC of this book free from Random House Publishing Group – Loveswept via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review*

Lara Ashburn is a teacher and when she has to contact a parent about one of her students she usually has normal parent teacher conferences. Not this time. She has to talk to a parent that is in the Devil’s Keepers MC. Not only does she hate bikers but this one is arrogant, big and not to mention gorgeous.

Ryan “Chaser” Frey is the top enforcer for the Devil’s Keepers MC. He does not have time to deal with teachers that keep calling and trying to tell him how to raise his daughter. The best way to deal with it is head on. Ryan does not expect to see a woman like Lara as his daughter’s teacher.

Lara has links to a MC in California that could really help the Devil’s Keepers out. As business gets mixed with pleasure Ryan and Lara have insane chemistry. Scorching hot chemistry at that! This is the third book in the Devil’s Keepers series  and I think they just keep getting better.

Review of Sammy’s Broken Leg (Oh, No!) and the Amazing Cast That Fixed It by Judith Wolf Mandell

Awesome Children’s Book

Genre: Children’s Book

Book Length (Est.): 32 Pages

Book Description/Synopsis:

One minute your child is fine. The next minute, a broken bone. Hours later, in a clunky cast. For weeks or months, sidelined from favorite activities. If your child is like Sammy, (s)he gets glum and grumpy as days slog by.

Help is pages away in Sammy’s Broken Leg (Oh, No!) and the Amazing Cast That Fixed It, a whimsical book to entertain a child in a cast for healing a broken bone, or in a spica cast for hip correction (hip dysplasia).

Children in a cast will delight in a troupe of Kisses who cheer for Sammy and coach her to be patient. The Kisses are Sammy’s secret: only she can hear them. How and when they whooshed into her life will amaze and amuse.

It all goes to prove: One Kiss for a Boo-Boo. A Bazillion Kisses for a Cast!

Mindy’s Review:

Sammy loves to jump, twirl and run. That is until she falls and breaks her leg.

The illustrations in this book are wonderful. The details of the hospital visit can make any child feel safe and comfortable if they are ever in this situation.

Everyone has a child that loves to be a kid. All of the jumping and running can lead to a fall. My daughter is 9 years old and she acts just like Sammy. So we read this together and she loved it as much as I did. This is a book that we can read over and over again. And if anything was to ever happen to her or one of her friends I think they would find comfort in this story.

I will recommend this to all of my daughters friends to read.

Review of Down and Dirty by Tracy Wolf

Down and Dirty

Genre: Contemporary Romance

Book Length (Est.):  203 pages

Book Description/Synopsis:

This hard-bodied football star is used to scoring. But he needs all the right moves to get past a fiery redhead’s defenses in a steamy standalone novel from the bestselling author of Ruined.

Emerson: Talk about bad first impressions. I have too much riding on this job to show up late on my first day looking like the winner of a wet T-shirt contest, all thanks to an arrogant quarterback who drives like he owns the road. Hunter Browning thinks that because he’s famous, he can fix everything with a smile and a wave of his hand. He’s too bronzed, buff, and beautiful for his own good. Or mine. I can’t let on that I’m a fan . . . no matter how much fun we’d have in the sack.

Hunter: Hitting that puddle was my best play since winning the Super Bowl with a touchdown pass. Sure, it’s not my preferred way to get a girl wet, but I’ll make an exception for Emerson Day. She’s got a sharp tongue and a red-hot temper, even with her soaking clothes plastered to her every curve. Now I know exactly what my next play will be: hire Emerson as my personal real-estate agent, save her job—and see if I can take her off the market.

Mindy’s Review:

*I received this book free from Netgalley on behalf of Random House Publishing Group – Loveswept in exchange for an honest review*

Emerson Day just wants to make a good impression on her first day of work. Since she has started the day with running late not much more can go wrong. Except that is does. Her car breaks down, the Uber driver gets her to work late and some arrogant ass with a bog truck just made her look like she is in a wet t-shirt contest. When she meets the driver face to face she does not give him the satisfaction of falling at his feet.

Hunter Browning is a star football player that has everything going for him. All he really needs to do is find a house and soon. Now that he has arrived and seen what he has done to the woman on the street he feels sorry for her but is also very intrigued by her sharp tongue and temper.

Hunter needs to find a house for his family. His twin sister is dying and he needs to have something for his niece and nephew to call home. Hunter makes millions of dollars but wants just a simple family home on the beach. When he demands that Emerson shows him the houses he is in it for more than finding a home. He has never met anyone that will call him out or that will not fall to his feet. The more they get to know each other the more that the lines get crossed. But as their feelings start to grow Hunter has bigger issues when his sister passes away. He starts to keep everyone at arm’s length  including Emerson.

I loved everything about this story. I felt love, sorrow and damn is he hot! (Except when he is being an ass) Wow, I cannot praise this author enough. I felt as if I was living the story with them.

Becoming an ER doctor had been David McGregor’s mission ever since he could remember. But after tragedy strikes at his hospital in Chicago, David runs away from the guilt—all the way back to Latham Hills, Michigan, where he takes a job tending bar at his childhood friend’s restaurant. That’s how he meets Camden Reed, and the way Camden refuses to give him the time of day should be a turnoff. But when the sexual tension finally combusts between the sheets, Camden discovers that people aren’t always what they seem. As David pushes her past her limits, Camden begins to loosen up—and to trust that, when she falls, there will be someone waiting to catch her.

Mindy’s Review:

David McGregor works as a bartender at his friends restaurant. Running from his past failures this gives him something to do. Through his friends he meets Camden, and she wants nothing to do with him. But he knows he will keep trying.

Camden Reed is a list person. She works really hard to keep the lifestyle that she has. Being raised by a single mother and having a rough childhood keeps her wanting the best in life. She needs stability. That is why she is trying so hard to fight the desires that she has for David.

When their friends get married everyone goes to Jamaica for the nuptials. Spending time with David is a given as they are the only singles there. As the tension heats up between them all bets are off. David wants Camden to relax just while they are out of town and throw all her securities away. He pushes her to her limits and has her face her fears. But they both have secrets that could destroy their new found interest in each other.

This was a fun read. This is the fourth book in the Fireside series. I really enjoyed how David tries to make Camden relax and show her that some people can be trusted. The way that he showers her with endearment warms my heart. With that being said it also breaks my heart when the truth reveals itself. Both need to come clean to each other if they want to have a future together.

My Favorite Moment: I really enjoyed when they were scuba diving. The ocean seems to make everyone feel good.
