Review of Revelations (Infinity Series #1) by Bellamy Westbay

“Magic’s just science we don’t understand yet…”

Genre: Paranormal Romance

Book Length (Est.): 331 Pages

Book Description/Synopsis:

When modern-day twists with the old texts from the creation of time, you find a story that leads a group of friends on a journey, one that will change their lives and possibly the world’s….

Gwen Adams was faced a tough decision. On one side there was Alexander, the rich, powerful, devastatingly sexy man who intoxicated her with his very presence. On the other, the poor, hardworking, and gorgeous Ky, who’d earned her friendship and stolen her heart.

Alexander Prescott was bored with the predictability of eternity when his world was rocked by a beautiful woman who looked exactly like his long lost love. Despite the fact that she was human, he knew he’d found the woman destined for him. That was, until he met Gwen.

As outside forces push Alexander and Gwen together, another more sinister force lurks in the shadows, determined to destroy him.

Torn between the woman destined for him, and the one he desperately desired, what would he do?

This book is the first in a series that will take you on a unique journey of love, lust, revenge, and betrayal.

Gwen is a lonely girl who’s always left alone by her parents, who keeps having boy issues, and feels like an emotional yo-yo, but she still remains her sweet and caring self. She likes helping people and she likes taking care of people.

Ty has been one of Gwen’s best friends for a couple of years, but he’s always longed for her. Once she gave in and started dating him he betrayed her trust and left her brokenhearted and without the friend she once had.

Alexander is an angel. He’s fought may wars for Heaven, but his hardest battle is yet to come. He’s torn between the visual version of his long ago lost love and the girl whose every sense calls to his own. One will love him and one will betray him in the most evil of ways.

Revelations is an engrossing story that will hold you captive with its suspense…that is if you can get past the ever jumping the storyline does. I started dreading the infinity symbols as every time they appear the story jumps forward. Sometimes it was easy to follow, but more times than not it took a minute to figure out what happened and where I was causing the spell of being engrossed to be temporarily halted.

All I can say is just when you think you know a character beware because no one is as they seem and I have a feeling that there’s more to come as the series continues. The writing style may not be my favorite, however, the story itself is interesting enough to make me want to continue reading just to see where it goes. Of course, that may have to do with the slight cliffhanger book one ends on.

Review of Ruined By Power (Empire of Angels #2) by Zoey Ellis

“I need you. And I will always protect you.”

Genre: Paranormal Romance

Book Length (Est.): 212 Pages

Book Description/Synopsis:

“I will not tolerate him touching you, looking at you, breathing any air you breathe.” He kissed her hard and pulled her into his body as his desire burned. “You’re mine.”

Powerful, half-angel Thea faces the scrutiny of the Angel Realm and is beginning to realize that angels are nothing like how they are depicted in the human world. She is intrigued to hear information about her family and pursues the history that has been hidden to her for so long. As Thea tries to get the answers she needs, her faith in Cam is shaken when truths about him are revealed.

Power angel Cam is concerned when he realizes the Angel Realm has plans for Thea he wasn’t made aware of. He fights to keep her close and protect her from the challenges she faces. However, when the pressures on their relationship bear down, he teeters on the edge of a darkness that could cause her to walk away from him forever.

Ruined by Power is the second book in the Empire of Angels series, a paranormal alpha angel romance series. If you’re a fan of alpha heroes, powerful heroines, paranormal worlds and destined mates, start with the first book, Claimed By Power.

About the end: This book is a continuation of Cam and Thea’s story and there is cliff-hanger at the end.

Sexual scenes and strong language included. Not suitable for readers under 18.

Jennifer’s Review:

*I received this book free from the author in exchange for an honest review*

Ruined by Power picks up right where Claimed by Power left off with Thea arriving in the Angel Realm. And boy oh boy it’s one hot entrance.

Thea is adjusting to a new place, new people, and basically an entirely new way of life. She needs Cam for support, but he’s dealing with his own issues and an assignment that’s putting a lot of pressure on him.

A place that should bring them closer as mates is slowly tearing them apart. Nothing is happening like either  of them thought it would and neither have control of any of it.

Thea’s learning more about her past, her mother, and herself.   And Cam’s losing himself a little at a time as he battles his way through the Legion demons.

As the story progresses you’ll see the tribulations of love and also its strengths, but beware… the ending… definitely an OMG type of cliffhanger!

On a side note:  there’s so much miscommunication and the sex is sometimes used like a weapon or maybe even a bandage… only destroying or healing, not just for the love and passion it once was. It was too much at times.

Review of Unforgiven (The Soulkeepers #3) by Lori Adams

Unforgiven

Now that’s how you wrap up a story!

Genre: Paranormal Romance

Book Length (Est.): 341 Pages

Book Description/Synopsis:

Otherworldly desire and paranormal action reach new heights in the final installment of The Soulkeepers. As Sophia St. James moves Heaven and Hell to claim her destiny, questions are answered, secrets are revealed—and immortal love is tested.

After finally becoming a powerful Spirit Walker, Sophia St. James is shocked to discover that her conjured identical twin, Ka—along with her soul—have been dragged down to Hell by the relentless Demon Knight Dante. Sophia tries to hide the crisis, but there is little hope of keeping any secrets from her red-hot Guardian Angel. Growing suspicious, Michael has been making plans of his own that will bind him and Sophia together forever.

But Sophia is plagued with evil visions through Ka’s experiences in Hell. She is terrified that Dante will discover he has taken the wrong Sophia. Desperate to return to her original state before she withers away and dies, she risks everything to go where Michael can’t follow. To bring back Ka and save her own soul, Sophia must now enter the gates of Hell.

Jennifer’s Review:

*I received this book free from NetGalley on behalf of Random House Publishing Group – Loveswept in exchange for an honest review*

Every twist and turn, every loose end including ones I never would have thought about, and every question I wanted to ask throughout the first two books is answered in Unforgiven.

This book picks up right where Awaken left off. Sophia is in Haven Hurst trying to mask what has happened to everyone including Michael and Ka is in Hell with Dante. So much happens and I don’t want to give any of it away, so I’ll try…

I have a love/hate relationship with Dante. He’s a Demon Knight so I shouldn’t like him, but he’s just such a romantic at heart that I can’t help but feel bad for him. He might go about things completely the wrong way, but his reasons for doing them kind of broke my heart.

Ka is her own force to be reckoned with. I’m just going to say that I don’t like her very much at all.

Michael is at the point where he knows what he wants and nothing will stop him from obtaining it. No obstacle will be put in front of him that he’ll not storm through or find a way around. He’ll step up and not back down.

Sofia, always the independent go-getter, finds herself in over her head in yet another situation, but as always she won’t back down. She is forever the fighter and in the end you’ll find out why.

Unforgiven has a wonderful storyline. It’s crammed full of layers upon layers of… Are you serious? That’s why that happened? WOW! …scenarios. Only downside for me was the continued and very detailed descriptions of Hell. I can see why they were there, and they do paint one hell of a mental picture, but after a while I was over it and just wanted to hit the fast forward button.

My Favorite Laughable Moment: It cracked me up when Sofia told Michael that spirit walkers must remain chaste. He had the perfect reaction.

My Favorite Moments: Cloud surfing! And when Michael stands up to Armaros, refusing to be left out of something more important to him than anything else.
