Review of Undone (The Monroe Family #6) by Nicole Dykes

“And I was afraid we were going to be boring and normal”

Genre: Contemporary Romance

Book Length (Est.):

Book Description/Synopsis:

Sex with a good friend, no strings attached, no commitments. Sounds great, right?
Wrong. So wrong.
We thought we had beat the system. That we could be the friends that go into it eyes wide open with no delusions, but everyone else was right. That can’t work. Someone always falls.
And now we have to deal with the consequences.

*Undone is part 2 of Alex and Shriller’s story. It is highly recommended that you read Unraveled first.

***Mature content. Not recommended for anyone under 18

Mindy’s Review:

Alex and Shriller are finally back to continue their story. YAY!!

If you read Unraveled you know that Alex and Shriller thought they could beat the odds. Sex with a friend with no strings attached. This story picks up right where Unraveled left off (Yes, we all remember the cliffhanger).

Shriller has been gone for five months trying to get back into his racing career. He has not talked to any of his family back home because everything reminds him of Alex. Jax shows up at his house and gives him the third degree for forgetting his family and demands he comes home for the holidays.

Alex is trying to move on and has started dating Chris. They have a great relationship. He really is a nice guy and you kind of feel for him in this story. But Alex knows that her heart and body are made for Shriller. Once he finally comes back into town she has a hard time forgiving him for leaving and becomes crazy mad every time he is around.

I really love this story. You can feel the hurt, sadness, love and family vibe as you are reading the pages. There were times I had to scream and cry. I think Nicole did an awesome job on this and giving the readers some closure. Alex and Shriller are meant to be together.

Blog Tour – Review of Best Friends with Benefits (Most Likely To #1)by Candy Sloane

Best Friends with Benefits

WOW! What a weekend!

Genre: Contemporary Romance

Book Length (Est.): ??? Pages

Book Description/Synopsis:

Valerie Barkin and Alec Rogers survived bullies, awful parents, and seriously shitty social standing the only way best friends can—together. But with the unexpected sexual tension suddenly flaring between them, surviving their ten-year high school reunion might be a different story…

Val hasn’t changed. She still feels like the stringy-haired band geek the popular kids teased, but Alec has definitely changed. He’s now the front man for the Grammy-winning rock band Chronic Disharmony, with the sexual reputation to match. And he’s more than willing to help Val rock the reunion.

And then it happens—a drunken game of Seven Minutes in Heaven—and their fourteen-years-long foreplay comes crashing to the forefront…changing everything.

Seven minutes turns into a weekend of mind-blowing, no-strings-attached sex. But these best friends won’t be able to leave their hearts out of it forever, not when the most meaningful benefit could change their relationship for good….

Seven minutes in heaven never felt so good…

Jennifer’s Review:

*I received this book free from Tasty Book  Tours in exchange for an honest review*

Val is the epitome of a band girl, shy, quiet, and she even grew up and still plays in an orchestra. She’s beautiful, but she’s also prim, proper, and has only been with a few men since high school.

Opposite of Val is her best friend, Alec, who went from high school band to rock star. He doesn’t have relationships, he just has sex. From his clothes to his attitude he is a rock star, but when he’s with Val he’s still that scrawny little kid back in high school.

It’s amazing how one’s insecurities can prevent them from truly living life.

Best Friends with Benefits was a fun and entertaining read. It has the perfect balance of humor, drama, and kinky public sex. With the exception of the epilogue the entire book takes place over Val and Alec’s ten year high school reunion weekend, it’s nicely paced and never boring. It’s quite interesting what can happen in just a few days.

My Favorite Moment: There are several sweet moments I could go with that I enjoyed very much, anything from defaced photos to nature hikes, but no my favorite moment takes place in the vending/ice machine room. Hell yes! And hot damn!

My Favorite Quote: “Her breath became moans, then his name, over and over like a chant he would hear in the deepest parts of him forever.” – I don’t know why, but every time I read that line I get goosebumps. It’s perfect!

Excerpt:

He shouldn’t want this. She was his best friend. But he couldn’t stop.

Even in the dark, he could sense her curves. Ample breasts just begging for a skimpy tank top, her ass plump in that tight little skirt and insistent for a strong squeeze, or a smack if she was being naughty.

The way her gaze locked and her breath met the speed of his own as he erased the last bit of space between them, he was sure she was naughty. Very naughty. That she would welcome the palm of his hand.

And just like that, his best friend had made him hard.

“I don’t hear anything in there,” Randy Tines yelled from outside the door.

“I think we’re supposed to be kissing,” Alec said, his cock so rigid he thought she could feel it through his pants.

“You mean each other?”

“We could just make kissing noises,” he suggested, thinking of his lips teasing along the inside of her collar, biting off button after button of her shirt and spitting them out like watermelon seeds.

Hell yeah, he wanted to kiss her, her lips and her neck and the little spot behind her knee that she had been kneading as they drove here. He knew it was crazy, he knew it was wrong, but he wanted to be the guy to fuck Mr. Peanut out of her.

“Like this?” She pressed her hand to her lips and pretended to make out with it, her eyes on him as her tongue slicked over her skin.

His stomach rumbled in pure sexual hunger. One thing was for sure—all that flute practice had been good for a lot more than music.

“That sounds completely fake,” he scoffed. Though considering the way his cock fought against the fabric of his pants, that was not entirely true.

Her bottom lip lay open against the inside of her palm.

“You think you could do better?”

He yanked her hand to his lips before she could protest, before he could consider. He kissed it lightly at first, soft and drugging, slid the tip of his tongue up to her wrist, until he hit the buttoned cuff. “Maybe it should be me.” The words spilled out against the soft-as-sin fabric.

“What?”

“Maybe I should be the one to fuck you like you deserve.”

Val didn’t reply, just breathed out more peppermint, hot peppermint against the skin of his face. Her eyes smoldered with want. It was clear she felt it, too, the heat between them, the confusing, beautiful, delicious heat.

He grabbed her forearm and drew her closer, slanting in to her chest. The shock of their bodies against each other caused them both to freeze. Not even a breath passed between them, but he knew exactly what he needed to do.

He clenched the back of her head, and his lips dipped to her neck, dripping down her skin like melting ice. Fuck, he had to taste her. He opened his mouth, and his tongue lapped at her tender skin.

“Alec,” she breathed.

“Follow my lead.” He couldn’t stop, though she certainly didn’t seem like she was asking him to. If anything, she was yielding to him. He trailed a finger down the center of her neck, playing with the top button of her shirt, pausing so he could think. Ten years. He could have gone to see her so many times. He hadn’t at first because of how they’d left things after graduation, and then because their careers got in the way and they had both gotten into the routine of being like pen pals, but maybe he had really been avoiding their attraction.

There was no avoiding it now. There was no thinking.

She needed this, and he was going to give it to her.

Review of Marry Your Billionaire by C.J. Anaya

Marry Your Billionaire

What’s real in reality…?

Genre: Contemporary Romance, Romantic Comedy

Book Length (Est.): 413 Pages

Book Description/Synopsis:

Six years ago, Midge Knightly walked away from her trust fund, her Hollywood producer father, and the expectation that she would join the family business. Avoiding handsome playboys with hidden agendas was just an added bonus. Now one semester shy of graduation, she is shocked to discover her scholarship has lost its funding.

Her estranged father is having problems of his own. A contestant on his latest reality TV series has cancelled two months before shooting.

His solution?

Midge gets her trust fund back if she stands in as a potential marriage candidate for the dating series Marry Your Billionaire. Twenty women competing for one arrogant guy. Not Midge’s cup of tea. Agreeing to this proposition sucks her back into the world she happily broke ties from, but no trust fund equals no college degree.

Brody Prescott, CEO and owner of an online dating company, has recently been pegged as a heartless playboy-among other things-by a disgruntled female after a disappointing date.

His solution?

Become the first bachelor on Marry Your Billionaire and hope that one of the contestants holds some potential. So what is he supposed to do when the woman who intrigues him the most wants to be eliminated?

Marry Your Billionaire is a fun, romantic romp set against the backdrop of reality TV. Throw on your PJ’s, grab some chocolate and popcorn, and settle in for an entertaining love story.

Jennifer’s Review:

*I received an ARC of this book free from the author in exchange for an honest review*

Midge didn’t want to be part of the spotlight and she definitely did not want to be known only as Corbin Knightly’s daughter. She wanted to gain her own identity and know that when someone liked her that it was because he truly liked her and not because of what her father could do for him. Not everyone considered fame and money perks.

“He was a dream, wrapped in a fairy tale, dipped in chocolate, and laden with dollops of whip cream.”

Brody was CEO of an online dating website and when he was put through the papers as using his own site for debauchery his image took a beating. He needed to clean up that image and his assistant thought finding a bride, on a reality TV show, was the way to do it. He honestly did not want to do it, but when he met a fiery redhead that called him like she saw him and refused to fall at his feet he no longer wanted to do the show…he wanted her.

“I think it took me everything I had to allow her to walk away from me. Around her it felt like I was breathing fresh air for the first time.”

There are a lot of secrets and manipulation when it comes to reality TV, I think that’s why I personally don’t watch the stuff, but reading it is entirely different. Marry Your Billionaire  is full of twists, threats, murder attempts, even pranks, not to mention kisses good enough to ignite any flame.

I enjoyed Midge’s snarky comments toward Brody, not to mention her little dye job. And I loved Brody’s attempts to woo Midge. The things he’d say to her were amazingly perfect and would have just about any woman swooning.

“I plan on sweeping her off her feet, turning her world upside down, and laying bare my heart while winning hers in the process.”

My Favorite Laughable Moment: Nothing like a child’s interpretation of Cinderella to make you smile. I’m not sure what had me laughing more…the way she dictated the story or the way Midge and Brody acted it out for her.

Review of Crushed (Redemption #2) by Lauren Layne

Crushed

Sometimes you find your heart where you least expect.

Genre: Contemporary Romance, Romantic Comedy

Book Length (Est.): 304 Pages

Book Description/Synopsis:

Lauren Layne’s latest novel about the healing power of redemption tells the story of a crush gone wickedly wrong, proving that what you want isn’t always what you need.

Growing up in New York, Michael St. Claire never expected to spend his twenties wearing cowboy boots. But that was before he learned about his real father, a total stranger with a family in Cedar Grove, Texas. Once in the Lone Star State, Michael meets Kristin Bellamy, who is exquisitely refined and everything Michael always thought he wanted in a woman. The only problem is that Kristin is dating Michael’s new half brother, Devon.

Kristin’s mouthy, curvy sister Chloe has always been in love with Devon Patterson. So when Michael offers to help Chloe break up Devon and Kristin, Chloe agrees to a deal that seems too good to be true. Before long, Chloe finally gets her man, only to make a startling discovery: She no longer wants the guy she had to fight for—she wants the one who stood by her side.

After all he and Chloe have been through, Michael swears he’s damaged goods. Can Chloe convince him that love is worth the risk?

Jennifer’s Review:

*I received this book free from NetGalley on behalf of Random House Publishing Group – Loveswept in exchange for an honest review*

Chloe is the perfect example of someone who covers pain with humor. Oh and she’s really good at it. Some of the things that come out of her mouth are so funny you just want to give her a high five on execution. But underneath all that humor is someone who needs a friend like Michael…even if she doesn’t realize it.

Michael has that smackable quality and thank goodness Chloe has no problem putting him in his place. But beneath his rough exterior is a broken man who doesn’t need perfect, he needs imperfect and challenging…even if he doesn’t realize it.

Chloe and Michael together are sweet, challenging, and at times downright hilarious in Crushed. They have a connection from the very beginning that keeps you flipping the pages just to see what will happen next and if they’ll end up where you want them.

My Favorite Moment: Michael’s reaction to Chloe in her Fourth of July bikini.

My Most Heartbreaking Moment: When a confession goes completely wrong. Luckily Michael has some really good friends and they’ll know exactly what to do to “fix” things.

Mindy’s Review:

*I received this book free from the author in exchange for an honest review*

When I first seen this book I thought it was going to be very interesting. With that being said I was not able to finish this book. I got to about 50% and realized I really do not know anything about the main characters. I like to know my characters and feel that I am actually part of them as I am reading.

Jessica Steel feels kind of weak to me. Things happen so fast with her boss I don’t even think she knows how she feels or even what happened and then Boom, next chapter she is in love. Say what?

The other issue that I had with the writing style is things progressed really, really fast. A week or two would go by in a paragraph.

I really wanted this to be a good read and I really think that it could if time was spent on the characters and filling in the missing time frames.

Other readers might truly enjoy this book, however I do not think that it was for me.
