Genre: Contemporary Romance

As longtime manager of Dirty, the hottest rock band on the planet, gorgeous and brooding Brody Mason has had his share of beautiful women. Yet the only one he’s ever wanted is the one he never had—the one who tore his heart out.

Beautiful and elusive Jessa Mayes appears to have it all. Talent, money, and a glamorous life. But she also has a secret. Six years ago, she ran away—from her dream career as a songwriter with Dirty, and the only man she’s ever loved—without telling anyone why.

Now Jessa’s doing the one thing she swore she’d never do. She’s coming home—to be a bridesmaid in her brother’s rock star wedding… and face the mistakes of her past.

It won’t be easy.

Love this intense never is.

Dirty Like Brody is the second full-length novel in the Dirty series—a rockstar romance series about the members of the rock band Dirty and the women and men who love them.

Novels in the Dirty series are interconnected standalones, each with an HEA. (There are ongoing storylines that develop throughout the series, so reading them in order is not crucial but is recommended.)

YAY – Double Review!

Jennifer’s Review:

*I received an ARC of this book free from the author in exchange for an honest review*

I remember bits and pieces about Jessa from book one, Dirty Like Me, but I never would have guessed her significance in Dirty if it wasn’t for this book. Her story is not one I would have expected, which made it all that much more interesting. She has secrets….oh so many secrets…and not only will she learn to overcome them, but to finally admit all her failures to the people whose opinions will make or break her. Especially Brody’s.

Brody survived an abusive childhood, running with a not so good motorcycle gang, and broken heart that continually haunted him. Now as Dirty’s manager and Jesse’s best friend he had it made. All he was missing was the one who owned his heart and consumed his mind…Jessa.

Brody has loved Jessa since she was 15. Jessa, on the other hand, has basically loved Brody since the first day she met him when she was eight. But her life took her down a winding road that led far from where she wanted to be and although no one was willing to give up on her it took her a while to realize that. Years away from her brother, the band, and Brody only proved how much she missed and needed them. Thanks to Jesse’s wedding she got her reason to return and thanks to Brody she had a reason to stay.

Dirty Like Brody is an entertaining ready about would’ve, could’ve, should’ves. It’ll give you a taste of the dark road drugs can lead you down and the hope and love family and loved ones are capable of giving when you need it.

As for heat level, it wasn’t as dirty as the first two books, but it did have its moments. On the downside there are some flashbacks that aren’t always easily identifiable until you’re well into them. They weren’t a bad thing necessarily it just threw off the reading flow at times.

I may be a little weird, but my favorite moment was a little semi-awkward moment for Jessa. Way to go Brody, nice way to change the subject!

“Just…talk about something else.”

“Like what? Like how I’m gonna slide my tongue between your legs the first chance I get?”

“You are?”

“Yeah. Definitely. You gonna let me?”

“Um…okay…”

Brody Mason is the manager for Dirty. He had his heart broken and when she comes back to town all of those feeling will come to the surface.

Jessa Mayes returns to her hometown for her brother’s wedding. She has a modeling career that keeps her gone all of the time. Not really wanting to return back home she knows it will break her brother’s heart. To keep her heart safe she just wishes that she does not have to run into Brody.

This is the second book in the Dirty series. I was not sure who this book was going to be about at first. I love that it was about Jessa. She is running from her past and does not want anyone to know why she left in the first place. While she is home she does some soul searching and realizes that she might have made a mistake leaving. Learning Brody’s true feelings about her will definetly give her a wakeup call.

This was a very good read. I love that we get to dive right into Jessa’s story. She has a past that she wants to stay hidden but does not realize that she has a family that would have done anything to help her. I instantly feel for Brody from the beginning. The one person that he loved ran off and didn’t even try to contact him over the years. When they are forced to deal with their issues the chemistry is still very strong.

I cannot wait to see where this series take us.

YAY ~ Double Review!

Mindy’s Review:

*I received this book free from the author in exchange for an honest review*

Maggie Omura is the assistant manager for Dirty. Dirty just so happens to be the hottest band in the world right now. Her only rule is to not get involved with the talent.

Zane Traynor is the lead singer for Dirty. He is a rock god and has a long list of one night stands to go along with it.

Maggie ends up trying to help someone and puts herself in a sticky situation. Sharing a suite with the rock god himself. He has wanted Maggie for so long and she knows it. She has been able to stand her ground for six years. However when she has a rough night and practically throws herself at Zane just to be shut down and humiliated she has no idea what to do.

Zane has had it bad for Maggie since he first laid eyes on her. Knowing she has a screwed up relationship with her dad makes Zane very angry.  Not to mention they just happen to be staying in her fathers hotel in Vegas. Everything with her father comes with a price. Zane has a better idea and pops the question to Maggie to get her father off her back. When Zane sets everything up he really goes all in.

OMG! I loved this short story. I really need the rest of it, and I mean I need it now.  I am just in awe with these two characters and I really need to know the rest of their story. I cannot wait!!

*I received this book free from the author in exchange for an honest review*

To Maggie, Zane is a rock god who sleeps his way through groupies. He’s also the man who causes her breathe to hitch and her body to shiver, which is why she’s kept things strictly professional over the years.

To Zane, Maggie is his girl, she just doesn’t know it. He’d do anything for her, including figuring out how to convince her to marry him. Too bad she thinks the entire thing is a sham and that he’s only doing it to help her get back at her father.

Dirty Like Us keeps you on the edge of your seat as you watch two people who are completely in love with each other fumble it up at every turn. Both too stubborn to admit their true feelings, and Zane is trying, but Maggie keeps thinking he’s not serious. The end…OMG the end! What a cliffhanger! My heart broke for Zane with his last ditch effort. Now I understand all their awkward tension filled moments in Dirty Like Me, but I really need for them to finish their story now.

“You’re fucking crazy.”

“I’m a fucking great friend. And I’d make a great husband.”

She laughed, hard, which cut me in a way I didn’t care to acknowledge. “And how’s that, do you imagine?”

“Let’s see. I’ve got a great cock, I’m giving as fuck in bed, I’m loyal to a fucking fault, and I’d kill for you.”

YAY – Double Review!

When I kept hearing Mindy laugh and light up while reading I knew I had to read it too. ~Jennifer

Mindy’s Review:

*I received an ARC of this book free from the author in exchange for an honest review*

Jesse Mayes is a rock star for the band Dirty. He is currently working on a solo project that he is putting everything he has into. Making music videos has never really been his thing. He just wants to be on stage doing what he loves.  Jesse is not attracted to the fans that just want something from him or want to get in his band members pants. But when he finds out that Katie has no idea who he is he is very interested.

Katie Bloom is a barista that is putting much struggling with everything in life right now. She is still dealing with a troubling past break up, her career is up in the air and she just misses her best friend. So what happens when you miss your best friend? You go to her job in the rain with pies.

Katie has no idea who anyone in the world is unless they are part of her family or friends. So when she meets Jesse Mays for the first time all she sees is a very sexy man that she cannot take her eyes off of. But when her friend tells her who he is she just brushes it off. She knows their music but not much anything else. That is until she is hired to be his girlfriend for his new music video. And then is very surprised when Jesse gives her a proposal that she cannot turn down. What is one way to grab life by the balls? Fake a relationship with one of the hottest rock stars you have ever seen.

Oh where do I start with this one? This book is funny, hot and a real page turner. I finished this book in one day. Only because I could not put it down. I was laughing at the way Katie and Jesse are with each other. The bets, the jealousy, the crazy ex’s, the lines that seem to get crossed are all a breath of fresh air. I loved every minute of reading this book. I cannot wait to read more of this series.

Jennifer’s Review:

*I received an ARC of this book free from the author in exchange for an honest review*

It’s been a long time since I’ve laughed this hard while reading. The entire first half of this book is filled with events and conversations that laughing so hard I cried.

Jesse Mayes is a rock star just trying to make a video, when Katie is thrust into this video by her best friend she has no clue what she’s doing. Acting – no. Pretending to act while convincing herself it’s not real – definite yes!

When Jesse shows up out of the blue to see Katie with a job offer she’d be stupid to refuse she wants to say no, but when her best friend shows up just in time to intervene and negotiate an even better deal she can’t exactly say no. Then begins the world of Katie, fake girlfriend to Jesse Mayes.

“Well, what good is an arm ornament if she doesn’t sparkle?”

Their relationship is intense. Each one trying to maintain professional boundaries until it comes abundantly clear that neither is having any luck with their resistance…hence a bet. Nothing like trying to make someone lose a bet so you can benefit.

“His hand snaked beneath the sheet; he placed it on the curve of my waist, his grip gently tightening, and drew me closer against him. The son of a bitch was spooning me. Naked.”

Dirty Like Me blends humor and horniness into one hell of a wild ride. I absolutely could not put this book down and I cannot wait to see what’s next in the Dirty series.

My Favorite Laughable Moments: There are many moments and picking one is a little tough, but the two that stands out above all others has to be the vibrator incident and the “Top Five Things Groupies Say to Jesse Mayes Outside a Show.” They’re both a mixture of intense sexual tension and hilarity.

Review of Deep (Deep #1) by Jaine Diamond

Deep

Cadet vs. Trainer…DEEP

Genre: Military Romance, Sci-fi

Book Length (Est.): 294 Pages

Book Description/Synopsis:

The more lines they cross, the deeper they get…

Top cadet Lana Marsden lives by the rules. The most important rule of all: no messing around with an officer. She learned that one the hard way.

Now her only desire is to survive the grueling DEEP Training program and leave that scandalous past behind.

When she reports to Station Six amid wild rumors of erotic hazing rituals and sadomasochistic games, she’s not prepared for any of the rumors to be true—or for her insatiable attraction to Sergeant “Catch” Durant, her tattooed rebel of a trainer.

One touch from Catch, and Lana knows she’s in trouble. One night of white-hot ecstasy, and the rules melt away.

Catch knows sweet, sexy Lana is forbidden. She’s his trainee, and her overprotective brother is his best friend. But one taste and Catch knows the last woman he’s supposed to touch will be the one to bring him to his knees. Which is exactly where he wants to be…

A cadet with a secret.
An officer with a secret kink.
A whole lot of rules to be broken.

DEEP is the first full-length novel in the DEEP Series. Contains hot men (and women) in uniform, a violated Code of Conduct, and ice cream. Intended for adult readers, 18+.

Mindy’s Review:

*I received this book free from the author in exchange for an honest review*

Lana Marsden lives by a set of rules. These rules are in place for a reason. Her past. Now that she is being transferred to Station Six to go through her DEEP training she wonders if the rumors are true. She has asked her brother about them since he is a trainer at Station Six but he just tells her it is not what it seems. Lana wants to go into DEEP space once training is complete to get away from everything. Earth is just way to small for her.

Sergeant Catch is Lana’s brother’s best friend. He is also the one assigned to do Lana’s training. Everyone was warned that she was coming to that station but Catch did not realize that he would be attracted to her. Since the first day she got in trouble for bringing prohibited items on to the station he has definitely taken notice. The one thing holding him back is the promise he made to her brother.

This was a good read. However the genre states that this is military romance, I think it has a little Sci-Fi (considering they are in space and have finger chips) in there as well. The story line is good. Lots of rules get broken, friendships and jobs are put in jeopardy. But what makes a good romance is the suspense of it all. I am not one for a cliff hanger ending but I think that I just got one. It will be interesting to see where the second book takes us.

My Favorite Moment: I loved how the big brother felt he had to keep his sister safe but I also love how independent Lana is.
