Review of Devil’s Own (The Devil’s Keepers) by Megan Crane

“He was her heroin. And he was right in her face.”

Genre: Contemporary Romance, Suspense

Book Length (Est.): 202 Pages

Book Description/Synopsis:

Lara Ashburn hates bikers. She watched a motorcycle club destroy her hometown, bringing her brother down with it. That’s a life she put far in her rearview. So the last person she wants to see walking into her classroom is the top enforcer of the Devil’s Keepers. Big, mean, and gorgeous, all tattoos and leather, Chaser is everything Lara should avoid. Yet the insane chemistry sparking between them tempts her to break all the rules.

Ryan “Chaser” Frey has his hands full with a teen daughter in need of tough love, and he doesn’t have time for prissy teachers who want to tell him how to raise his kid. But Chaser never could resist a chick who gives as good as she gets. Lara is sexy as hell, and she’s not afraid of him. Plus, her links to a California club could provide the Devils with leverage against their enemies. But that would mean mixing business with pleasure—and risking the one woman Chaser can’t afford to lose.

Lara Ashburn is a teacher and when she has to contact a parent about one of her students she usually has normal parent teacher conferences. Not this time. She has to talk to a parent that is in the Devil’s Keepers MC. Not only does she hate bikers but this one is arrogant, big and not to mention gorgeous.

Ryan “Chaser” Frey is the top enforcer for the Devil’s Keepers MC. He does not have time to deal with teachers that keep calling and trying to tell him how to raise his daughter. The best way to deal with it is head on. Ryan does not expect to see a woman like Lara as his daughter’s teacher.

Lara has links to a MC in California that could really help the Devil’s Keepers out. As business gets mixed with pleasure Ryan and Lara have insane chemistry. Scorching hot chemistry at that! This is the third book in the Devil’s Keepers series  and I think they just keep getting better.

Review of Devil’s Mark (The Devil’s Keepers) by Megan Crane

“Maybe you don’t get what sitting on my face is all about.”

Genre: Contemporary Romance

Book Length (Est.): 193 pages

Book Description/Synopsis:

Holly Chambless is tired of being the squeaky clean daughter of Lagrange’s holier-than-thou mayor. When her father is charged with corruption, she realizes that her whole life’s been a lie. Now’s her chance to do all the things she never dared, like scoring a job at a bar where reputations go to die, or reconnecting with the biker who sparked a secret hunger in her all those years ago. Holly isn’t a wide-eyed girl anymore—and this time she wants a taste of what has always been denied.

Killian “Uptown” Chenier has no time for stuck-up princesses. He likes fast bikes and wild sex. Sure, he remembers Holly. He sent her running with a wicked smile and a lesson about prying eyes. And sure, she’s grown up smoking-hot, with a body he’d like to personally desecrate. But Devil’s Keepers business is real and intense. Her daddy stole from the club, leaving his pretty blonde daughter a walking target. And when Uptown takes aim at what he wants, he never misses.

Holly Chambers is the daughter of the town’s mayor. Now that her father is in trouble and she realizes that her whole life has been a lie she decides to take on a new purpose. Holly is tired of being the prefect daughter. Taking a stroll into the local biker bar will definitely raise some talk in the town and catch a certain person’s eye.

Killian “Uptown” Chenier lives a fast life. When Holly walks into the bar one night he feels a weird streak of protectiveness over her. Yes, he remembers her from a long time ago when she caught him red handed pleasing a woman in public. He still remembers the look on her face too. With her dad stealing from the club he might just have to use her as leverage and a secret revenge to himself.

Uptown is drawn to Holly. He is not usually into the good girl type but he cannot seem to control his body when she is around. And Holly just really likes what she sees in Uptown.

This was a good read. This is the second book in The Devil’s Keepers series. I like how the relationship between Uptown and Holly is sweet and tender. With Uptown being a monster of a man in public it is refreshing to see the sweet side of him when it comes to Holly. The club wants their money back from the mayor but Uptown’s main concern is keeping Holly safe and in his bed.

Review of Devil’s Honor (The Devil’s Keepers) by Megan Crane

Hot Summer Flings!

Genre: Contemporary Romance

Book Length (Est.): 201 pages

Book Description/Synopsis:

In the start of a sizzling new series, bestselling author Megan Crane takes readers deep into bayou country, where the sultry swamp has nothing on the heat of Louisiana’s fiercest bikers: the Devil’s Keepers.

Merritt Broussard grew up knowing she had two choices if she stayed in Lagrange: run with the outlaws or get left in their dust. So she got the hell out, leaving behind a bad-boy biker and scorching memories of their summer fling. Now Merritt’s back, with trouble on her tail, and the sergeant-at-arms of the Devil’s Keepers is the one person she can still trust. But Greeley isn’t the boy she remembers. He’s harder now, more dangerous—and even more alluring.

Joseph “Greeley” Shaw loves two things: his bike and his club. At eighteen, he escaped a rough life, found the Devil’s Keepers on the wrong side of a bad weekend, and never looked back. Greeley swore to live and die by their code: Devil’s Keepers first, Devil’s Keepers forever. No one comes between him and his brothers—except for the tantalizing woman who touched his soul. Greeley’s the kind of man who honors his commitments . . . and Merritt is one promise he’s determined to keep.

Merritt Broussard had a summer fling with a Devil’s Keeper MC Member. She had the time of her life but knew she was not going to stay in her home town after graduation. She had plans. Get the hell out of this small town, become a lawyer and never look back. Leaving town meant never coming back. That was a direct order from her fling and he meant every word of it.

Joseph “Greeley” Shaw is now the Sgt. at Arms for the Devil’s Keepers MC. He can have any woman he wants at any time. He loves nothing more than his Harley and his club. That is until the one that got away comes back into town. He jumps at the first chance he gets to find out why.

Merritt is running from her crazy ex-boyfriend. She is not sure what he is capable of but she knows for dang sure she does not want to hang around and find out. The only place she can go to get away is back home. No one knows where she is from and she feels she will be safe. That is until she hears a Harley pull up to her childhood home. She realizes that it is Greeley and her body instantly knows his arrival. However her brain is telling her to run far away and never look back. When sparks fly and emotions come back up to the surface they know there is no staying away from each other.

This was a very fun read. I loved Merritt and Greeley together. They have heat and passion that just scorches the pages. And trust me you will be turning the pages to see how this ends.

My Favorite Moment: It has to be when Greeley gets the phone call this woman is at the strip club. I love how refuses to let anyone in the small town see Merritt strip.

Review of Make You Burn (The Deacons of Bourbon Street #1) by Megan Crane

Make You Burn

Genre: Contemporary Romance, MC Romance

Book Length (Est.): 197 pages

Book Description/Synopsis:

Meet the Deacons of Bourbon Street, bad boy bikers who are hell on wheels—and heaven between the sheets. Megan Crane revs up an irresistible new series co-written with Rachael Johns, Jackie Ashenden, and Maisey Yates.

Sean “Ajax” Harding’s oaths are inked into his skin. Once second-in-command of the Deacons of Bourbon Street motorcycle club, he left New Orleans to protect the brotherhood, and only the death of his beloved mentor, Priest Lombard, could lure him back. Walking into the old hangout gives him a familiar thrill—especially when he gets an eyeful of the bar’s delectable new owner. A wild ride with her is just the welcome Ajax needs. Then he realizes that she’s Priest’s daughter, all grown up and totally off limits.

Sophie Lombard loved her father, not his lifestyle. She’s done with bikers . . . until Ajax roars into town—arrogant, tough, and sexy as ever. And although he treats her like the Catholic schoolgirl he once knew, Sophie’s daydreams tend to revolve around sin. With the very real possibility of heartbreak looming, Sophie knows better than to get too close to an outlaw. But every touch from Ajax is steamier than the Louisiana bayou—and heat like this may just be worth getting burned.

Includes a special message from the editor, as well as an excerpt from another Loveswept title.

Mindy’s Review:

Sean “Ajax” Harding returns to town after being away for ten years because the death of his President and mentor Priest. Ajax is the Vice President of the Bourbon Street Motorcycle Club and his loyalty to the club runs deep, skin deep. When he starts to investigate what has happened to Priest he starts to realize that this was not an accident. Seeing a very familiar lady that has rebellion running through her veins has Ajax thinking about the one woman he should not touch.

Sophie Lombard is the daughter of the President of the Bourbon Street Motorcycle Club, She loved her father but has lived the biker lifestyle for far too long. When her father dies she finally gets to be herself. That is until the VP strolls in and stakes his claim. Sophie wants nothing to do with the club and really wants nothing to do with Ajax. Her body and her brain have different opinions on how she should handle him.

I have read a lot of MC books over the past few months and for some reason I could not connect with these characters at all. I am not sure if it was the storyline itself or the fact that I just needed more. I think I have more questions than answers at this point. What happened with Priest and what was going on before his accident? Why did Ajax have to leave for so long? I felt that I needed more of the build up to what happened and what is going to happen. Why are all of the club members gone? And why did the end of the book jump so far ahead?

With that being said the chemistry between Ajax and Sophie is hot but not too convincing for me.  Ajax likes to have control and Sophie has no problem handing that over in the bedroom but when in public her mouth tends to get her in trouble. This did make me laugh frequently.

Maybe just maybe the second book in the series Fire Me Up will give me all the answers that I am seeking.

My Favorite Moment: I really did enjoy when Ajax seen Sophie for the first time and realized who she was.
