Review of Undone (The Monroe Family #6) by Nicole Dykes

“And I was afraid we were going to be boring and normal”

Genre: Contemporary Romance

Book Length (Est.):

Book Description/Synopsis:

Sex with a good friend, no strings attached, no commitments. Sounds great, right?
Wrong. So wrong.
We thought we had beat the system. That we could be the friends that go into it eyes wide open with no delusions, but everyone else was right. That can’t work. Someone always falls.
And now we have to deal with the consequences.

*Undone is part 2 of Alex and Shriller’s story. It is highly recommended that you read Unraveled first.

***Mature content. Not recommended for anyone under 18

Alex and Shriller are finally back to continue their story. YAY!!

If you read Unraveled you know that Alex and Shriller thought they could beat the odds. Sex with a friend with no strings attached. This story picks up right where Unraveled left off (Yes, we all remember the cliffhanger).

Shriller has been gone for five months trying to get back into his racing career. He has not talked to any of his family back home because everything reminds him of Alex. Jax shows up at his house and gives him the third degree for forgetting his family and demands he comes home for the holidays.

Alex is trying to move on and has started dating Chris. They have a great relationship. He really is a nice guy and you kind of feel for him in this story. But Alex knows that her heart and body are made for Shriller. Once he finally comes back into town she has a hard time forgiving him for leaving and becomes crazy mad every time he is around.

I really love this story. You can feel the hurt, sadness, love and family vibe as you are reading the pages. There were times I had to scream and cry. I think Nicole did an awesome job on this and giving the readers some closure. Alex and Shriller are meant to be together.

Review of Unraveled (The Monroe Family #5) by Nicole Dykes

”Nah, you think I’m sexy. You totally want to do me.”

Genre: Contemporary Romance

Book Length (Est.): 328 pages

Book Description/Synopsis:

Shriller

I have everything I could possibly want. My career is at an all-time high, I have a hot, low maintenance girlfriend, and a group of friends that have become my family. Then it all comes crashing down and I’m forced to rely on that group to get me through. In particular, my friend Alex who I’ve known for half my life. Hopefully I can get out of this with our friendship and my balls still intact.

Alex

I finally have it all together. I’m engaged to an actual adult, instead of waiting around for my usual immature type of guy to commit. I own my own salon and live close to my best friend and her growing family. Then I get a phone call stating that my longtime friend had an accident and everything starts to unravel. Now it’s up to me to get him through this mess while keeping everything I’ve worked so hard to get.

*Unraveled is a New Adult Romance novel that contains mature content and is not suitable for anyone under 18.

Mindy’s Review:

Shriller lives on the edge. When a crash puts his career on hold he unwillingly goes back home to recover. He grew up with a bunch of friends that have now become family. Now that he is back in Kansas City going through surgery and recovery he is staying with his friend Alex. He has known Alex since they were both kids.

Alex is a strong woman that does not put up with anything. At least that is what all her friends think. She is engaged to a man that is trying to make partner at his firm. Alex is blind to the fact that her finance is trying to change everything about her. That is until Shriller tells her and gets very upset about it. When Alex finally opens her eyes, she realizes what is going on and breaks off the relationship. And who is home to catch her when she falls? Yep, the sexy Shriller!

Things get heated quick with Shriller and Alex. They have known each other for so long that they are scared to damage their friendship. They promise each other that all will be fine and they can stop at any time. Well, we all know how this goes. The sex is incredible and then the jealousy sets in and then one realizes they have strong feelings for the other. This is exactly what happens. But with a twist. Shriller has never wanted to settle down and he realizes that he is in love with Alex. The one thing he promised Alex was they could go back to normal and he might just have to break this promise.

I decided I was going to read this at work. (I know, shame on me) Once I started I had a really, really hard time putting this down. I was so into this story I failed to realize I was nearing the end. And when it ended I literally screamed at my kindle. I need more!! Yes, this book is that good!!

I am so ready to see where Shriller and Alex go from here.

Review of Besting Brady (Hearts of Hollis #2) by J.L. Leslie and Nicole Dykes

Loving the town of Hollis

Genre: Contemporary Romance

Book Length (Est.): 285 Pages

Book Description/Synopsis:

Brady…
I have lived in Hollis my entire life. All of my memories are here. The good and the bad. I wouldn’t change anything about this town. My life is carefree and I live it without regrets. Sure, I’ve made mistakes…some of them I see every day…but I wouldn’t change those either. I’m just not meant to settle down. No woman will ever get the best of me. They’re just lucky to get part of me.

Lilly…
I don’t get the attraction about Hollis. Not at all…but it did bring Madden Steele here and his brothers followed suit. I at least have to give it a try…even if it’s temporary. The Steele brothers wouldn’t be here if it didn’t hold some attraction…and I can admit there’s definitely one good thing this town has going for it. For all I know, this town could change my life.

** Besting Brady is book two in the Hearts of Hollis series co-written by Nicole Dykes and J.L. Leslie. It is written as a stand-alone novel. It is not necessary to read book one in this series. It contains adult content, language, and sexual situations. It is intended for mature readers only.**

Mindy’s Review:

*I received an ARC of this book free from the author in exchange for an honest review*

Brady has lived in the small town of Hollis his entire life. He has his friends, the bar and all the girls that he wants. Brady is living the carefree life with no worries. That is until a very special woman walks right into his life.

Lilly has ran to the small town of Hollis after finding out that she was adopted. She is not running away because she is scared or mad. She wants to confront her brothers. Wanting to get to know them first she takes a job as a waitress at the local bar.

This is the second book in the Heart of Hollis series. I truly loved the first one and could not wait for this one to come out. I was not disappointed at all. Lilly is just what Brady needed in his life. The chemistry is hot! I read this book in one day because I could not put it down.

All I know is I need Hollis to be real and I need all of the characters to be my friends. Because I love, love, love all of them and I really love the small town feel of Hollis. I cannot wait to see what else comes out of this small town.

Review of Marking Madden (Hearts of Hollis Book 1) by Nicole Dykes and J.L. Leslie

mm

Sometimes love is unexpected..

Genre: Contemporary Romance

Book Length (Est.): 167 pages

Book Description/Synopsis:

Jade…

I came to Hollis to leave my past. I couldn’t get away fast enough. I made new friends and I found a new life. I even found love. Of course, there was heartbreak too, but I’m tough. I can handle it. But I don’t know if I can handle him.

Madden…

She said yes and turned my world upside down. She was supposed to be mine. Not his. Not my brother’s. So I left and I haven’t looked back. I never expected to find someone here who’d make me forget. Someone unexpected. Someone who would mark my heart forever.

**Marking Madden is the first book in the Hearts of Hollis series co-written by Nicole Dykes and J.L. Leslie. It is written as a stand-alone novel. It contains adult content, language, and sexual situations. It is intended for mature readers only.**

Mindy’s Review:

*I received this book free from the author in exchange for an honest review*

Madden Steel has grown up with the finest things in life. He has been shaped to work for his father’s company with his brothers. When the woman he loves accepts a wedding proposal from his brother he knows he just needs to get away for a while.  So what does he do? He steals money from his father and runs to the smallest town that he can find.

Jade lives in a very small town in Texas. She found the town of Hollis when she wanted to get away from her upbringing and start a new life. Working as a bartender at the only bar in town she knows everyone. When a mysterious man walks into the bar to rent a room she is instantly drawn and wants to know all about him.

Madden and Jade becomes friends pretty quick. Jade is still upset about a past break up and Madden is running away from his family troubles. The best way to get over the past is to rub it in their face. Madden helps Jade make her ex-boyfriend jealous but what they didn’t count on was having feelings for each other.

This was a very fun read. I was unable to put it down once I started reading. The chemistry between Madden and Jade is scorching and the storyline makes you feel as you are part of the small town and all of its drama. I cannot wait to see where this series takes us!

My Favorite Moment: I really enjoyed the night of the street dance.
