Review of Dragon’s Hope (Red Planet Dragons Of Tajss #4) by Miranda Martin & Juno Wells

“I want to live for her and because of her.”

Genre: Sci-fi, Fantasy

Book Length (Est.): 200 Pages

Book Description/Synopsis:

Before the generation ship crashed on this desert alien planet I was a Vagrant. Unplanned and unwanted, struggling to survive.

Now we’re on Tajss and if not for the natives, seven foot tall dragon-men with wings and tails and scales, we’d all be dead.

My new friends are finding love and I couldn’t be happier for them but I want to fit in, I want to have a place and a purpose. Strangely enough the only one who might understand is one of those scaled dragon-men.

I wanted comfort and attention but it turns out ‘one night stand’ doesn’t translate into Zmaj. He wants more and won’t give up until he claims his treasure. Me.

Jennifer’s Review:

*I received this book free from the author in exchange for an honest review*

Lana was unwanted on the ship she once called home, but crashing landing on a foreign planet has given her the opportunity to do something with her life, to become needed, and to matter. In order to never go back to the person she once was she’ll do her best to help out in any way her people need, which is how she’ll end up as a hunter.

Astarot knew he’d found his treasure the moment he first saw Lana. Getting her to want him back, now that was a different story. She wanted one night of comfort. He wanted forever. It just takes a few challenging events to get them on the same page.

“When a Zmaj mates, it’s for life. She is his treasure, his everything. He will do anything for her. She becomes the center of his universe.”

I have mixed emotions on this one. On one hand a lot happens in means to the underlying plot and over all series, but on the other hand there wasn’t as much oomph between the main characters as in the previous books. I just wasn’t as attached to Lana and Astarot and I’m not sure if it was because most of their time together was spent being captured or taken to the Tribe and they didn’t seem to have as much one-on-one time as the previous couples or if maybe they just didn’t fully click as a couple to me. I can say that if you’re following the series that this one is vital as it takes a turn into new territory and I cannot wait to see what happens next. As a matter of fact it kind of ends on a cliff hanger. Bring on book #5!

Review of Dragon’s Love (Red Planet Dragons of Tajss #3) by Miranda Martin & Juno Wells

“I’m torn apart and created anew…”

Genre: Sci-fi

Book Length (Est.): 170 Pages

Book Description/Synopsis:

I guess I’m one of the last survivors of the human race and I’m stranded on this hell of a desert alien planet. Sucks to be me.

Our ship crashed months ago and those of us left are struggling to survive the boiling heat in barbaric living conditions. The only reason we’re not all dead is one of my friends got knocked up by a native alien and he lets us live in his ruined city. We should be grateful but a lot of the humans hate the dragons and the girls who mate with them. Fools.

The natives are huge, seven foot tall dragon-men with wings and tails and scales. Surly and overly protective, who needs that? Not me. Alien baby fever is the new in thing, but I’m not falling for the hype. I’ve always survived being alone and I don’t need anyone to change that. Try telling that to Shidan, the most annoyingly persistent alien male around.

Thanks to the primitive nature of the destroyed planet we have no idea what’s happening when things go wrong with my friend’s pregnancy. I’m sure I can salvage something from our crashed ship that will help, but to get there I’ll have to leave the city’s protection and go out in the sweltering heat where everything wants to kill me. The only way I’ll survive is if Shidan comes too and he’s made it clear he wants only one thing. Love.

Dragon’s Love is a full length scifi novel with a happily ever after ending, plenty of steam, bloody battles and alien-human intrigue. It is standalone and co-written by Miranda Martin and one of the hottest science fiction romance authors out there, Juno Wells.

Jennifer’s Review:

*I received this book free from the author in exchange for an honest review*

Amara didn’t want to be like her two friends. She didn’t want to fall for an alien dragon man or even think about having his baby, but when she has one following her around it becomes hard to resist his determination and charm.

She’s vastly independent, and due to her past experience with men and rank she has a difficult time asking for and accepting help. It isn’t easy for her to let anyone it, especially an alien dragon man who is driving her crazy by always being around to help.

Shidan may be young compared to the others like him, but he knows how he feels and he’s wanted Amara since the first day he’d seen her. He tries to learn more about her, ways to impress her, and ultimately he’s usually putting his foot in his mouth. For him maybe he tries a little too hard, but who can fault him for that.

Dragon’s Love continues the stories of the Red Planet Dragons of Tajss. Each story is individual to its characters, however, the underlying story of the crash and the planetary issues are continued from the previous books, for this reason I’d suggest reading them in order.

Side note for all you dirty girls who like a little sizzle in their books…these dragon men are not only sexy and sweetly possessive, but they also have two. Yes lades, two! Talk about not having to wait for a repeat performance. There’s definitely no down time for these couples!

My Favorite Moments all include Amara’s mouth. That girl is a complete smartass and I love it.

“Sure, you were just, you know, asking. Right. What if I am? What if I’m banging the holy hell out of that big alien dragon man? Taking his sweet alien cock and riding it all damn night long. What of it?”

Review of Sydan: Galactic Guardians by Cianna Rafael

sydan

“I fear I am becoming dangerously enraptured by you.”

Genre: Sci-fi, Fantasy

Book Length (Est.): 163 Pages

Book Description/Synopsis:

Rowan Sharpe Is surviving on a ravaged earth… barely. An alien invasion has left her with nothing except her survival instincts and a few stolen canned goods. When a sexy alien warrior swoops in and takes her to his ship, she is sure she is done for. And in a way she is.

Sydan is not just any alien warrior, he is a Prince. He’s charming, good looking and trained in combat to be a defender of the galaxies. He’s been happy living the life of a bachelor soldier, being with whomever he desires. But a chance encounter with Rowan Sharpe has changed all of that.

The Varikan mating bond is strong, and evokes deep passion with those that have been pulled together. Rowan and Sydan must decide if the reward of their mating is worth the risks.

Just when life is finally turning around, it becomes abundantly clear that some people are not happy about this intergalactic affair and will stop at nothing to prevent it from happening. Will Sydan and Rowan be able to enjoy the pleasures of mated life or will their relationship parish before it has really had a chance to start?

Jennifer’s Review:

*I received this book free from the author in exchange for an honest review*

Rowan goes through a lot in a very short amount of time. From student to surviving a planetary attack, to finding out she’s the mate of an alien, to transforming her DNA (along with a few other modifications), to being a Princess and a mom. The fact that she handles everything with such ease made her a little unrelateable. Don’t get me wrong, she does have emotions and sometimes they are fierce, but overall she just kind of accepts the hand she’s dealt and moves forward.

Sydan never expected to find his mate on Earth, but one touch and they both end up with the mark stating it’s truth. He struggles a little with fearing rejection, but he’s a sweet, sexy, warrior winged Prince…what more could an Earth girl want?!

“Being mated to you is going to give me a terrible ego. I quite like being the sex fantasy husband.”

Sydan: Galactic Guardians navigates the borderline between peace and war amongst alien beings. It will bring you into the depths of the Varikan people and how they and their world differs from ours.

Everything between Rowan and Sydan happens very quickly and then they are thrown into chaos. Deceit, betrayal, and family secrets fill the pages alongside love, faith, and hot alien sex.

There are several parts that seemed to lack depth and therefore it had a difficult time holding my attention, but simple curiosity kept me turning the pages.

Review of Blue Vision (Code of Endhivar #1) by Marie Lavender

blue-vision

Stay With Me

Genre: Sci-Fi, Fantasy

Book Length (Est.): 200 Pages

Book Description/Synopsis:

Brooke Sanders just wants to get away from her life for awhile. A remote cabin in Montana fits the bill. She doesn’t expect to encounter a mysterious stranger with unusual blue eyes, or events that cannot be explained…

Colin Fielding is on a mission – scout a planet and return home to Endhivar. Simple really. What he doesn’t anticipate is that fate has a pretty twisted sense of humor. Suddenly, this human calls to him, every part of him, like the call of a true mate, and he can’t deny the connection as he gets closer to her.

Little do they know, someone is out to do them harm, as well as the world Brooke holds so dear. Can they stop what’s coming before it’s too late? Or will the universe lose a perfect gem?

Jennifer’s Review:

*I received an ARC of this book free from the author in exchange for an honest review*

Brooke is running from life, from commitment, pretty much from everything. What she never expected was to find everything she was running from in the form of a sexy mysterious stranger who made her suddenly want everything she had been fearful of.

Colin was only supposed to be scouting the planet, he never expected to find his true mate or for her to be human. Confused between what to do, follow his directive for the good of his people or follow his heart, he chooses what’s right for him. But in his world some things aren’t as they seem and he’ll have to rethink everything he’s ever known in hopes of doing what is right.

“Does it hurt?”

“Only when you’re not with me.”

Blue Vision puts a romantic and erotic spin on alien/human relationships. There is a little bit of an altercation, but not really any suspense leading up to it. It’s like ‘Bam! Yep, that just happened and now lets continue with the regularly scheduled programming.’ The relationship between Brooke and Colin is unusual since he tries denying his feelings and basically forcing her to forget about him by using one of his not so nice alien gifts; not that it works. After that it just sort of evolves, and considering her holdups on relationships it happens pretty quickly.

To me this can be read as a standalone. There’s a HEA and although you might want more there’s no need for it.

Review of Dragon’s Mate (Red Planet Dragons of Tajss #2) by Miranda Martin and Juno Wells

Dragon's Mate

Don’t get jealous, get your own!

Genre: Sci-fi, Romance

Book Length (Est.): 162 Pages

Book Description/Synopsis:

Like being stranded on a desert alien planet wasn’t enough…

All I ever wanted was someone to love. Now my best friend is knocked up by the only hunky alien-dragon available and I can’t tell anyone how totally jealous I am. The handful of humans who survived our ship’s crash are locked in a struggle to live in sweltering heat with dwindling supplies.

The others are taking the life giving, addictive epis but if I take it that means I’m stuck here. Forever. Which also means the chance of being rescued by a knight in shining armor would be zero.

If that weren’t enough, I go and get myself kidnapped and he’s another big, sexy, alien-dragon warrior.

Dragon’s Mate is a full length scifi novel with a happily ever after ending, plenty of steam, bloody battles and alien-human intrigue. It is standalone and co-written by newcomer Miranda Martin and one of the hottest science fiction romance authors out there, Juno Wells.

DRAGON’S MATE is a sequel to DRAGON’S BABY. You do not have to read both in order to understand the plot, but the story will be richer if you do!

Jennifer’s Review:

*I received this book free from the author in exchange for an honest review*

Before I say anything else about Dragon’s Mate I’d like to say that it says this can be read a standalone, but after reading it’s predecessor Dragon’s Baby and then this one I’m going to have to disagree. There are so many things that tie the books together and if you didn’t read the first one you won’t understand the depth of things that happen in the second.

Jolie is sweet and caring and all she wants is the impossible…a knight in shiny armor.

Jolie’s best friend is pregnant with a dragon/human baby and she’s jealous. She wants someone to look at her the way Ladon looks at Calista and she’s knows that unless they get rescued that it will never happen. The human men who survived the crash would never be able to give her the love and affection she wants. What she doesn’t know is that someone already looks at her like that.

“He saved me. I’ve been holding out for a man who would care for me, someone who would look at me like Ladon looks at Calista. I was blind. I didn’t see that he was right here.”

Sverre lives in a self-imposed hell, one which he does not deserve to be in. He’s more honorable than he’d ever take credit for.

Sverre heard the voice of an angel and knew he had to have her, to treasure her and keep her forever, even if he knew he didn’t deserve her. Going against every instinct in his body he’ll do anything for the female he’s been infatuated by.

“She is mine. I must have her. I knew it when I saw her.”

Dragon’s Mate is book two in the Red Planet Dragons of Tajss and it continues right where Dragon’s Baby leaves off. The humans are still stranded in Ladon’s city on Tajss; half are making the best of it and the other half are rebelling against almost every decision made. There are many not happy with the relationship between Ladon and Calista and when Jolie brings another dragon into the city it sparks even more tension.

When I started this book I was a little disappointed because when the POV changes between Jolie and Sverre the timelines overlapped and it was a little bit confusing, but once I got past that everything got better. I was pulled back into the world the humans liked to call Vulcan and cannot wait to read more about Tajss, especially now that there are slave traders afoot and more dragons showing their faces.

My Favorite Laughable Moment: Not only do Jolie and Sverre have to overcome a language barrier but also an occasional cultural one, like when she mentions kinky and then has to try to explain it. Things are always better explained when shown instead of trying to use useless words.

Review of Dragon’s Baby (Red Planet Dragons of Tajss #1) by Miranda Martin and Juno Wells

Dragon's Baby

Whoever thought you needed words to communicate must not be doing it right…

Genre: Sci-fi, Romance

Book Length (Est.): 160 Pages

Book Description/Synopsis:

Not every alien is an enemy, even if he kidnaps you…

Calista is happy with her life of scientific research. She has no need for a man, she has her books, her friends, and her work. Things are fine until her ship is attacked by space pirates and crash lands on a desert planet with heat so intense she and her friends can’t survive without help.

Ladon is a Zmaj warrior resigned to a life alone, who only desires to protect his treasures. His hopes for a mate faded long ago, yet when he meets Calista something stirs. It takes no more than one look to know that she belongs to him. He’s been alone for so long but she is the ultimate treasure and he will protect her.

Now there’s only the small problem of her living long enough to understand.

A devastated planet, a mysterious history, space pirates, and threats environmental and alien beset them on all sides. The sexy Zmaj warrior will have to battle the planet’s ultimate threat in an epic effort to obtain the one thing he knows Calista needs to survive. Then maybe they can begin to come to terms with the feelings they create in each other.

But will the other humans accept this huge and alien looking dragon warrior? Or will they find him just as big a threat as the rest of the red planet? The future of both their races depends on it.

Alien Dragon’s Baby is a full length scifi novel with a happily ever after ending, plenty of steam, bloody battles and alien-human intrigue.

Jennifer’s Review:

*I received this book free from the author in exchange for an honest review*

The humans in this book are born, raised, and will eventually die all on the same ship. It’s their destiny. That is until their ship is attacked by pirates and they crash land on a planet equivalent to Vulcan. Surrounded by sand and a heat that will slowly kill them all they are forced to evaluate their surroundings and search for anything that would help them survive.

Calista is a botanist, who’s used to working in a lab, and now she’s forced into field work. A job that she is unable to do because of the planet’s conditions. They’ll leave her on the edge of death, but unknown to her she has a guardian angel – or in this case a guardian dragon – who will do anything to keep her alive and healthy.

Ladon is one of the few left of his kind; he’s also the last one left in his city. Alone for so long he’d come to the conclusion that he’d always be that way, but one look at the female who’d crashed down from the sky left him reconsidering his alone status. He wanted her. He wanted to treasure her.

“She touches me and a shudder rips through my spine as my desire flames into a roaring sun. I open my eyes and meet hers. Beautiful, shiny, and I fall into them losing myself.”

Unable to communicate in each other’s languages Calista and Ladon come up with alternative ways to do so. Ways that bring them closer together.

Dragon’s Baby drops you smack dab in the middle of a new and interesting world that will put an interesting spin on human/dragon relations. The planet and all its inhabitants are described in ways that will let you easily see them in your mind, especially if you get Star Wars, Star Trek, and an occasional Dr. Who reference. Which I have to admit, I absolutely loved the references. They almost always made me laugh.

“We crashed on Tatooine,” I groan.

“It’s Vulcan,” Amara says.

“Is not,” I grouse. “Sand, fucking sand everywhere. That’s Tatooine.”

“It’s red and there’s mountains, that’s Vulcan,” Amara replies.

“Fine,” I fold to the Star Trek lover. “Get Scotty to beam me up so Bones can do something about this pain in my head.”

My Favorite Moment: I love the way Ladon is with Calista. At every turn he cherishes her and treats her like a treasure he never wants to let go of.

“I’m not broken,” I say.

“No, not broken, perfect. You are perfect.”

Review of Charming (Exiled #3) by Victoria Danann

charming

Some Realties Cannot Change, Some Can

Genre: Paranormal Romance, Sci-fi

Book Length (Est.): 190 Pages

Book Description/Synopsis:

*A string of murders point to a hybrid killer.

*A girl on the run is dropped off at Charming’s door.

*His previously well-ordered world has turned into one big hot mess.

For six years humans have lived in peace with the human-animal hybrids known as the EXILED, integrating, intermarrying, and sharing culture. Despite his youth, Charming reluctantly accepted the role of leader and gained the respect of hybrids and humans alike. Everything has been progressing smoothly until a series of human murder victims begin turning up with evidence pointing to a hybrid killer.

While Charming is struggling to manage a city in crisis with fear and racial tension, Rosie Storm arrives unexpectedly, leaves a human female for him to protect, and disappears without leaving a way to reach her. At the worst possible time, he finds himself with an unwelcome guest sporting ingratitude and a body that has him thinking twice about dating humans.

Jennifer’s Review:

*I received this book free from the author in exchange for an honest review*

Charming is the third and final book in the Exiled series. It takes us into the new world where humans and EXILED live in harmony, or well they’re trying to at least. With humans being murdered it’s looking more and more like someone doesn’t want the harmonization.

Throughout the series I’ve watched Charming grow up and become the leader he is, but getting to know him up close and personal made me witness the kind of man he truly is. He works hard because he doesn’t want to let anyone down, even if the weight of the world is pushing him further down everyday his people come first.

Ana couldn’t catch a break. After her father died everything just circled around until it slowly went completely down the drain. Thank goodness she literally runs into Rosie (which by the way I missed and was glad to her make a reappearance in the series) who offers her a permanent rescue. No one would ever find her where Rosie dropped her off.

Forced to be roommates Charming and Ana try to make the best of it. She gets to know the town and even learns a trade. He gets peace from her presence, when she’s not driving him crazy that is. As the days fly by they become closer until one night a grand gesture is made; one that definitely does not go as planned and it forces two people to realize their true feelings.

I loved Charming and Ana’s story, but it wasn’t as moving as Carnal and Crave. It does, however, have a little more suspense.

My Favorite Laughable Moment: Charming loves his cookies…a little too much.

“Those were mine!” roared Charming.

Scar freed himself from Charming’s grip and then said, “I paid for them.”

“She gave them to me!”
