Review of Baller Made (Bad Boy Ballers #3) by Rie Warren

“You own me…”

Genre: Contemporary Romance, Sports Romance

Book Length (Est.): 294 Pages

Book Description/Synopsis:

Bad Boy Ballers series finale! Includes an epic novella length epilogue for Rafe and Peyton, Brooklyn and Delaney, and Calder and Reggie!

The dark horse of the NFL. A superstar showgirl on the Vegas strip. Their desire is taboo in ways you can’t even begin to imagine.

Calder Malone. Black sheep. Bad boy. Kicked off the Reno Ravens and almost suspended from the NFL. The sexy center remains a fan favorite now that he’s playing for Carolina Crush. And what Calder wants more than anything is to prove his worth to the team that’s his last chance, the family he disgraced, and the one woman he fell in love with years ago.

Unfortunately the comeback kid isn’t a boy anymore, and the babe he wants was never his for the taking—for reasons that make him question his sanity.

Reggie isn’t just a Vegas showgirl, a pretty face. She’s an Air Force widow, a strong woman who’s piecing her life back together . . . And maybe the man she always thought was out of her league and completely off-limits just became fair game.

Off the field and offstage, what happens when Calder and Reggie don’t stay in Vegas?

Jennifer’s Review:

*I received an ARC of this book free from the author in exchange for an honest review*

Calder had his life spiral out of control, but has been doing everything to get it under control and get his career back on track. He does everything he can to prove to his new team, the Carolina Crush, that he’s worth the risk they took on him. His career is going good. His personal life…not so much.

Reggie was Calder’s childhood best friend. He wanted more, but was too shy to ever go there. Unfortunately his brother had no problem making the first move on her. He got to stand by and watch the love of his life marry his brother. And then he got to watch as his brother’s continued deployments wore on her. In the end, when his brother was killed in action he couldn’t stand by and watch her pain. His thoughts were always for more and with him gone they felt more wrong than normal so he distanced himself from everyone, throwing himself into his career.

Reggie is a Vegas showgirl, and damn good at her job. She’s worked very hard to get where she is and when the Carolina Crush show up to celebrate a victory she’s excited to see Calder. What he doesn’t know is that she’s seen the glimpses he’s given her over the years and she knows he’s interested, but at the same time she knows he probably would never do anything out of respect for his brother. She’ll set her mind and nothing will stop her from proving to him and herself that they are meant to be together. And she’ll give up everything to do so.

“What am I to you then?”

“Mine.”

Calder is sweet, but kind of lost. Reggie is strong-willed, but hesitant. And they’re completely perfect for each other.

Baller Made is a second chance romance of sorts. Life may have taken Calder and Reggie on two different paths, but in the end it’ll lead them right to where they were meant to be.

I absolutely loved how Reggie kept teasing Calder with sexual innuendos. Once she started down the path she didn’t waiver that’s for sure.

“Hey, I’ve got more skills than you know about.” He took the seat across from me with a bold wink.

“Oh yeah? Maybe I’ll need more demonstrations in the future.” Tucking into the simple but tasty fare after a good dousing of hot sauce, I realized how hungry I was.

“Are you flirting with me, Reggie?”

“Would you mind if I was?”

He slowly shook his head. “It’s just…you never…”

Review of Free Baller (Bad Boy Ballers #2) by Rie Warren

“Beyond the hottest experience of my life.”

Genre: Sports Romance, Contemporary Romance

Book Length (Est.): 270 Pages

Book Description/Synopsis:

Where the guys play hard, but the girls play dirty.

Brooklyn Holt, Carolina Crush’s top tight end, made a vow after his wife left him: never fall in love again. He doesn’t need a long-term lady. Hell no. He has the magic hands, the downfield rushes, the easy chicks by the dozens. And finally a team on a winning streak.

Being a free agent with the ladies is exactly what Brooks wants. Until Delaney Jones happens. The hot bitch with the serious attitude shows up with her own team in pretty much half the uniform he wears. Quarterback of the all-female Carolina Cougars, she’s sleek as a racehorse, mean on the field, and immune to all his moves. Every time she gives him no time just makes him hungrier for her.

Delaney Jones takes her work and her personal life seriously, and she’ll never be mistaken for a cheerleader, in spite of her athletic body. She’s never rah-rah’d with her pom-poms for any man—hunky, hot as hell tight end or otherwise.

Brooklyn Holt has swagger. He has strut. But Delaney isn’t about to be the free baller’s willing slut. Until she scratches the surface and discovers his wounds run as deep as hers and his heart is warmer than she’d ever thought. It’s just too bad the past won’t die. When the danger she’s run from for years catches up to her, she’s determined to keep Brooks out of the crossfire. Even if it means Game Over.

Jennifer’s Review:

*I received an ARC of this book free from the author in exchange for an honest review*

Brooklyn is the tight end for the Carolina Crush and he has set his sights on one unobtainable object and everything and everyone else fell away. Delaney became his personal obsession. He was intrigued by her and wanted to know more. Hell, he wanted to know everything. And he’s willing to go the distance.

“Delaney naked with my Stetson on. Fuck me.”

Delaney is quarterback of the all-female Carolina Cougars. She’s been hurt and abused and the last thing she wants or needs is a man in her life. Even if that man is the sexy and determined Brooklyn Holt.

Brooklyn will wear down Delaney’s walls with his sincerity and Delaney will open her heart to the potential that is Brooklyn. Free Baller is filled with intense and pleasurable sexual scenarios, it has equal amounts of cover your mouth laugh out loud humor, and a plot just interestingly heartbreaking enough to hold your full attention. I love how Rie crosses her series by randomly including one or two characters from a previous series. All the characters are unforgettable and it’s great to see them popping up when least expected.

My Favorite Laughable Moment is when Brooklyn performs a little Flo Rida number on the field. I think I laughed as hard as Delaney.

Excerpt:

Brooklyn Holt was concerned about me, but to be honest? I could not wait to get my hands all over him. The moment he’d stepped into the living room and I saw his reflection in the windows, I knew I had to have him.

The unbuttoned shirt showed off his supercharged body—the well-sculpted broad torso—and those jeans. Those jeans plastered to the hard edge of his thighs, his ass, his . . . oh my God . . . the Girth Brooks cock made every single part of me swell with need.

In his bedroom he stood in front of me, not touching. His shirt hung open, his eyes hooded low, and his breath struck in and out of his chest.

“You’re in charge. Whatever you want.” His words came out thick and hoarse.

I drew my finger from his stomach and slipped it between my pursed lips. “Oh, I already know I’m in charge.”

I thought Brooklyn’s eyes were going to fall out of his head. His hips surged, bringing my attention to the long hard formation at his groin. Nnnnh, that belt buckle just set everything off perfectly. I figured I owed him a little payback since he’d gone down on me so completely I’d nearly lost my voice—coming so hard from the hot strikes of his tongue on my pussy.

My breasts brushed against the hair on his chest, and I reveled in the feel. I skimmed my fingers over his huge shoulders, behind his neck, into his thick, wavy hair.

Drawing him to my lips, I cried out when he cupped my backside, tugging me up and into him.

Our kiss long and hot and wet, I pulled away, panting.

“I want you.” His pelvis kicked again.

“I know.”

He palmed my breasts, thumbing across my nipples. I almost lost my concentration, but I stepped behind him. Dragging the shirt from his thickly muscled arms, I kissed down the center of his back.

“Oh, wow.” My fingertips skipped up the center of his laddered sinews fanning out. My breath held as I took in the total artistry and sheer fuckhotness of his ink-covered back.

“You’ve seen my tats before,” Brooks spoke in a ragged voice, and chills rose on his skin beneath my fingers.

“Not close up.” The tat was a landscape of horses . . . steeds, a whole herd of them in black and shades of gray with majestic manes. Dust flying beneath their soaring hooves. Red eyes glowing.

The magnificent tattoo was made even more so by the muscular canvas of his entire back.

“I’ve never seen anything like this.” Placing my hands on his lean hips, I followed one curving line with my tongue, licking.

“Fuck.” Immense muscles flexed as his head craned back.

I bit then sucked along his lats.

“Jesus.” His shoulders knotted.

I kissed at his tats, sucking and swirling my tongue.

“Delaney . . .”

“Are you going to beg me now?”

When I rounded to face him, he curled an arm around my waist.

I stopped him before his mouth crashed to mine. “I thought you said I was in charge.”

Rushed ragged breaths chugged in and out of his chest. He looked at me as every sinew in his body—his highly trained form—tightened.

“Fuuuck. You’re the boss.”

I smiled, tossing his shirt onto a chair. “That’s right.”

“But no fuckin’ shit? I’m so close to blowing my load just looking at you.”

Walking toward his bed, I swished my ass. “I know.”

“I’d rather come in your cunt.”

A hot swirl of need simmered between my legs at his rough raw language. “Not my mouth?”

Willow Scott is sweet, innocent, and 100% untouchable. She’s the epitome of everything MMA fighter Regan “Rapscallion” Matthews has always wanted, but will never have. A woman like her deserves more than a scrapper from the wrong side of the tracks—the Scott’s charity case.

**All Against the Cage books can be read as stand-alones**

Jennifer’s Review:

*I received an ARC of this book free from the author in exchange for an honest review*

Regan has had feelings for his best friend’s little sister since she was sixteen and kissed him, but she was off-limits, and he went a little crazy trying to get over his desire for her. That is until four years later she declares game on and decides to stop holding back her feelings for him, making it extremely difficult to hold back his own.

Willow has been in love with Regan ever since she can remember, she’s even saved herself for him, and when an opportunity presents itself finally get what she’s always wanted she holds nothing back to get it.

Two people in love. A hidden romance from a brother who’d kill them. And a hitman trying to stop a testimony. Grappling For Position pulls you into the world of Regan and Willow and it’s easy to get lost in the pages.

The ending left a little bit to be desired, but overall the storyline was intriguingly capturing. What I wasn’t too fond of was how the books overlapped. I’d remember bits and pieces from the previous books, but couldn’t exactly remember all the details. It made me want to have all the books open at the same time in order to obtain the full picture.

“Why would Kyle send you to talk to me?”

“Apparently, he thinks we’re like this-” Regan held up his crossed fingers. “He obviously doesn’t know we’re like this-” He made a circle with his thumb and finger, then poked his index finger through the hole. “I’m supposed to find out who you’ve been fucking so he can kick his ass.”

– Oh what a tangled web we weave…

Review of Back Check (Aces Hockey #4) by Kelly Jamieson

back-check

“Maybe what we’re doing is…trying again.”

Genre: Contemporary Romance, Sports Romance

Book Length (Est.): 232 Pages

Book Description/Synopsis:

The so-bad-they’re-good alphas of hockey’s Chicago Aces are back in this emotionally charged novel of sex, love, and second chances from the bestselling author of Top Shelf and the Heller Brothers series.

Tanner Bennet hates weddings. They just remind him that he simply isn’t cut out for any kind of healthy, committed relationship—never has been, never will be. After getting rejected by the girl he thought was “the one” all those years ago, he made a huge mistake and married the wrong person. Now that the divorced heartbreaker has reluctantly agreed to be a groomsman for one of his NHL teammates, the last thing he expects is a chance at redemption with the one that got away.

After Marc Dupuis of the Chicago Aces hires wedding planner Katelyn Medford, she discovers that her big break comes with a twist: a reunion with her college sweetheart. The way she dumped Tanner still haunts her. Eight years—and three broken engagements—later, Katelyn knows she’ll never have that kind of innocent, wide-eyed passion again. Still, she and Tanner soon generate enough body heat to burn up the sheets. And even with Tanner’s career with the Aces up in the air, Katelyn’s wondering whether the time is right to let him in for real

Jennifer’s Review:

*I received an ARC of this book free from Random House Publishing Group – Loveswept via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review*

Tanner left his one true love when he got drafted into the NHL. He’d asked her to go with him, but she didn’t, and he’d spent the following many years trying to fill in that hole in his heart.

Katelyn wanted to leave with Tanner, but she had a secret that had kept her from doing so. Now her life is different though, she doesn’t have those same obligations anymore, and she’s even created her own event planning business. Which is how she runs back into Tanner. She’s planning one of his teammates weddings, one that he’s in. So much for keeping the past in the past.

Two hurt hearts collide again in an undeniable desire for each other.

Tanner and Katelyn both tried moving on, but once you’ve found the love of your life it’s a little difficult to replace them. A fact they both realize with the more time they spend together.

Back Check is a loving and fiery story about reunited love. It has the humor associated with all the Aces Hockey novels, because let’s face it those players can be downright hilarious, and the intense heat I’m beginning to associate with Kelly Jamieson. There is a tender moment or two that may require a tissue, but over all it’s a fun and entertaining read.

Review of Getting Inside (Seattle Grizzlies #1) by Serena Bell

getting-inside

“Are we having a conversation about my dick?”

Genre: Contemporary Romance, Sports Romance

Book Length (Est.): 198 Pages

Book Description/Synopsis:

They’re big. They’re hot. And they play hard.

In the kickoff to Serena Bell’s sexy new football romance series, the heat between a female coach and a cocky linebacker turns the Seattle Grizzlies locker room upside down.

Iona: There’s nothing like the rush of going head-to-head with the boys. Football is my life, and I got my new job with the Seattle Grizzlies because I know how to play rough. But as a woman in a man’s game, I can’t afford any distractions—like panty-melting tabloid darling Ty Williams, my star linebacker. I’ve stared down plenty of good-looking players without losing my cool . . . and yet something about Ty’s intense gaze burns straight to my core.

Ty : Despite what they say in the press, I save my best moves for game day. The Grizzlies aren’t just my teammates, they’re my brothers—no way am I going to let some new coach shake up our defense. But Iona Thomas isn’t just some coach. It’s so tough to keep my head in the game when I’d rather be in bed with her. She may take charge at practice, but if I had her in my arms, I’d be choosing the plays. I just need to figure out what makes her tick—and what makes her want to break the rules.

Jennifer’s Review:

*I received an ARC of this book free from Random House Publishing Group – Loveswept via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review*

Getting Inside mixes in a little humor with its romance. I found myself laughing at little things the characters thought or said throughout the book, which kept is light and entertaining.

Iona is one of the coaches for the Grizzlies and despite her always professional attitude there’s one man you who has an entirely different effect on her.

Ty is a football player and the last thing he ever thought would happen would be him having the hots for his new coach. Then again, I bet he never expected a sexy female coach either.

Iona’s hell bent on ignoring the heat she feels when Ty’s around and keeping things only professional. Ty has different plans. And all it’ll take is a little power outage to start a fire that won’t burn out very easily. With their professional relationship in the spotlight so to speak their personal one will be that much more difficult and secretive….I bet we all know how that’ll turn out. It definitely has its ups and downs, but every single one is worth the ride.

My Favorite Moment is when Coach gets in on a little play action during practice. Hope no one saw that reaction!

Review of Breaking the Ice (Ice Breaker Series #1) by Summer Bryant

breaking-the-ice

“Talk to me.”

Genre: Sports Romance

Book Length (Est.): 134 Pages

Book Description/Synopsis:

Hannah built her career on the tenets of hard work and avoiding any relationship with the sports superstars she meets on the job. But, for the successful sports reporter some things are easier said than done, especially where sinfully handsome Jake Wilson is concerned.

Jake has two loves in life – his young son and his career. Serious relationships will only complicate his life, and he’s not willing to make that sacrifice. Hannah, though, is proving to be hard to resist.

As their mutual attraction grows and a friendship forms between Hannah and Jake’s young son, will temptation get the better of them? Are either of these hardworking career-driven individuals ready for a chance at true love?

**Breaking the Ice is a standalone sports romance novel with a bit of steam, a HEA ending and no cliffhanger.**

Jennifer’s Review:

*I received this book free from the author in exchange for an honest review*

Hannah wants to be the top sports reporter and she’s given up a social life in order to achieve her dreams, but there’s one person who wants her to let him in. But risking everything she’s done doesn’t come easy to her.

Jake has the reputation of the standard hockey star ho, but he wants more with Hannah, too bad he doesn’t know how to make her see past his reputation. He’ll invite her into his and his son’s lives without even a second thought, but when it comes to convincing her that she belongs there he’ll be up against some major road blocks.

I wanted to love this, but with only the occasional glimpse of character depth and the fast pasted storyline it felt incomplete. And the way it ended…ugh! But the storyline is good. If you want a quickie romance read then this is for you, but if you want to be pulled into the story then I’d pass.
