Review of Undone (The Monroe Family #6) by Nicole Dykes

“And I was afraid we were going to be boring and normal”

Genre: Contemporary Romance

Book Length (Est.):

Book Description/Synopsis:

Sex with a good friend, no strings attached, no commitments. Sounds great, right?
Wrong. So wrong.
We thought we had beat the system. That we could be the friends that go into it eyes wide open with no delusions, but everyone else was right. That can’t work. Someone always falls.
And now we have to deal with the consequences.

*Undone is part 2 of Alex and Shriller’s story. It is highly recommended that you read Unraveled first.

***Mature content. Not recommended for anyone under 18

Mindy’s Review:

*I received this book free from the author in exchange for an honest review*

Alex and Shriller are finally back to continue their story. YAY!!

If you read Unraveled you know that Alex and Shriller thought they could beat the odds. Sex with a friend with no strings attached. This story picks up right where Unraveled left off (Yes, we all remember the cliffhanger).

Shriller has been gone for five months trying to get back into his racing career. He has not talked to any of his family back home because everything reminds him of Alex. Jax shows up at his house and gives him the third degree for forgetting his family and demands he comes home for the holidays.

Alex is trying to move on and has started dating Chris. They have a great relationship. He really is a nice guy and you kind of feel for him in this story. But Alex knows that her heart and body are made for Shriller. Once he finally comes back into town she has a hard time forgiving him for leaving and becomes crazy mad every time he is around.

I really love this story. You can feel the hurt, sadness, love and family vibe as you are reading the pages. There were times I had to scream and cry. I think Nicole did an awesome job on this and giving the readers some closure. Alex and Shriller are meant to be together.

Review of Undone (A Country Roads Novel #1) by Shannon Richard

Genre: Contemporary Romance

Book Length (Est.): 416 Pages

Book Description/Synopsis:

Things Paige Morrison will never understand about Mirabelle, Florida:

Why wearing red shoes makes a girl a harlot
Why a shop would ever sell something called “buck urine”
Why everywhere she goes, she runs into sexy-and infuriating-Brendan King

After losing her job, her apartment, and her boyfriend, Paige has no choice but to leave Philadelphia and move in with her retired parents. For an artsy outsider like Paige, finding her place in the tightly knit town isn’t easy-until she meets Brendan, the hot mechanic who’s interested in much more than Paige’s car. In no time at all, Brendan helps Paige find a new job, new friends, and a happiness she wasn’t sure she’d ever feel again. With Brendan by her side, Paige finally feels like she can call Mirabelle home. But when a new bombshell drops, will the couple survive, or will their love come undone?

Jennifer’s Review:

*I received an ARC of this book free from NetGalley on behalf of Forever (Grand Central Publishing) in exchange for an honest review*

Paige was content in her life. She shared an apartment with her best friend, had a good job, and a hot boyfriend. Until it all came crashing down. Her best friend received a job offer she couldn’t pass up, which made her leave town. The company she worked for got bought out and she got laid off…indefinitely. And that boyfriend of hers dumped her and left her basically homeless.

Paige had no choice left but to crash her parent’s retirement. Moving to a small town where everybody, and I mean EVERYBODY, knows what you’re doing or at least has wide spread, verbally expressed ideas of what you’re doing, wasn’t where she wanted to be. But it’s funny how when everything feels like it’s going wrong that maybe it’s just putting you where you need to be.

Being the talk of the town wasn’t new to Brendan or his family, but when the gossip also contained the new girl he couldn’t force from his mind he went livid. His reputation he could care less about, but hers he would defend first and ask questions later.

This book was full of well written characters who I absolutely loved, and a few I wanted to hit upside the head with a bat. It had so many humorous moments, like when Paige’s dad told her to grow oregano and what she should do with it, or the run in with the alligator. It had many passionate moments between Paige and Brendan, not to mention steamy ones, like when he asked her to ‘stay again’. It also had heartbreaking moments that made you share in their pain.

I loved this story and when I was finished I immediately purchased book #2, Undeniable.

My Favorite Moment: I loved it when Paige met Brendan for the first time.

“Oh no. You are not allowed to flirt with me.”

“Why not?”

“You were mean to me. I do not flirt with mean men.”

“I can be nice,” he said, turning to her and giving her a big smile.

My Favorite Quotes: “Just wear ugly underwear. If you wear stuff that you don’t want him to see, you’ll be less likely to sleep with him.”

“You didn’t tell me you have a tattoo.”

“Who said I have only one?”

He turned to her so quickly that he almost drove off the road.

Overall, I give this 5 stars!
