Blog Tour: Review of Payback (Viking Bastards MC #2) by Christina Phillips

“One kiss and he’ll be out of my system.”

Genre: Contemporary Romance

Book Length (Est.): 182 Pages

Book Description/Synopsis:

Gage…

I don’t fuck girls who work for me, but as soon as Amelia turns those big green eyes on me I know she’s trouble. I can’t keep my hands off her, and the almost-but-not-quite-sex we share in the kitchen is the hottest thing I’ve ever had. Except she calls it quits, before we’ve even started.

Instead of moving on, she’s all I can think about and that’s bad news. I’m breaking all my rules for her, and don’t even care.

Until I find out who she is and what she really wants. She’s after payback, but there’s no way she’s going to get it. No way in hell…

Gage Reynold is a member of the Viking Bastards MC.  His family has been part of the club since his Grandfather. The club always comes first. Gage runs a bar called Odin’s and only has one rule. Never sleep with the help. But when a new bartender comes in he cannot keep his eyes or hands off of her. That is until she sets the rules.

Amelia is out for some payback. She is getting her one chance to get close to the MC that killed her father. She only knows the facts that her mother told her ten years ago about her father’s death. Her father treated her like a princess and she just wants the revenge to make her feel better. Working at Odin’s will bring her closer to the man she is after. When she finally meets him and lays her eyes on him something else starts to turn inside of her.

Gage and Amelia are highly attracted to each other instantly. Amelia is starting to forget why she is there and decides she does not want any part of talking down the club. She believes Gage is a good man and their club is not doing anything wrong. When Gage finds out who is snooping around and why he goes into a fit of rage. Amelia is there to set him up and all he was doing was falling in love while it happened.

This is the second book in the Vikings Bastards series. I really enjoyed reading this Gage and Amelia’s story. Even though there is bad blood within their families love always takes a front seat.

Excerpt:

We sit in the back row, and as far as I know that’s for one reason only. The place is half empty, and it’d be too easy to slide my hand under her sweater and play with her gorgeous tits. My dick stirs and I grit my teeth. It can’t be good that I have a permanent hard-on whenever she’s near me.

I watch her from the corner of my eye as she digs into her popcorn. The lights dim and it’s real hard not to sling my arm around her shoulders, but I have the weird feeling she expects me to—just to prove that I can’t keep my word.

She’s only a chick, and the only time my word is everything is when it comes to my brothers. If Amelia wasn’t interested, she wouldn’t be here with me now. We can spend the next ninety minutes making out like a couple of horny teens, and I won’t think any less of myself for breaking my word.

Or I can be a fucking martyr and call her bluff.

When the movie starts, she wriggles in her seat and rests her arm next to mine on the armrest. Is she doing it on purpose? We’re barely touching but it’s like an electric charge zaps through my body.

This is going to be the longest ninety minutes of my life.

***

When we finally leave the movies it’s late afternoon and dark, which is a relief. Not that I’d expect to see any of my brothers hanging around, but I guess I’m paranoid. As we reach the bike, Amelia bumps her shoulder against my arm.

“You didn’t fall asleep. I’m impressed.”

I shrug. “I’ve seen worse.” No way will I admit the movie wasn’t nearly as bad as I thought it was going to be. It’s still way too early to take her to a club, but I’m in no hurry to let her go, even if she isn’t going to put out at the end of the night. Guess we could get something to eat.

Before I can figure out whether I’m ready to ask her that, because movies and eating out in one evening is kind of full-on, she takes the helmet and hugs it, like it’s a shield.

“Well, thanks for inviting me. Can you take me back to my car now?”

What the fuck? Is that it?

“Sure.” I’m pissed off and don’t know why. I’ve had some shit ideas in the past, but taking Amelia out has got to be one of the worst. If this is dating, then they can keep it and I’ll stick to my easy no-need-to-think-about-it hookups.

“Only, I need to get home and freshen up before my shift starts at Odin’s.” She pauses for a couple of seconds, as if she’s letting that sink in. Christ, I’ll never understand how chicks’ minds work. “That’s if the offer’s still open?”

Blog Tour: Review of Hooked (Viking Bastards MC) by Christina Phillips

hooked

“Every girl deserves one bad boy in her past”

Genre: Contemporary Romance

Book Length (Est.): 162 pages

Book Description/Synopsis:

Zach…

I like my sex dirty and disposable. I’m not into commitment or chicks who want more than one night. My brothers and club come first, second and last.

Until she walks into my life. Classy, rich and so out of my league it’s crazy. A week together should get her out of my system, but this good girl is so bad when we’re all alone and I can’t get enough of her.

I don’t do forever, but she’s hooked me so bad I don’t ever want to let her go. Except there’s no way a princess can live in my world and I sure as hell won’t live in hers…

Mindy’s Review:

*I received this book free from Netgalley via Tasty Book Tours in exchange for an honest review*

Zach is an absolutely no relationship kind of guy. He takes care of his sister and his club will always come first. When Grace walks into the bar to use the phone his thought process will change forever.

Grace is the kind of girl that comes from money and always tries to make her parents proud. Now that she has ended her engagement she is headed to her sister’s house. But not before her car breaks down in a shady part of town. With her head held high she walks right into a biker bar to use the phone and right into Zach’s arms.

This was a good romantic read. A hot headed guy that lives a crazy lifestyle falls for the girl that doesn’t fit into his life at all. With this being an MC book I expected to know more about the club. However, Zach and Grace are really good for each other. When he has to step into her lifestyle he knows that he could never fit into it but is not willing to let Grace go.

My Favorite Part: I think everything that had to do with Zach’s sister made me laugh. She has this brother that the world is scared of but she likes to tell it like it is.

Excerpt:

I pull her close, and she winds her arms around me, which makes me almost forget what I
was about to say. “What you see is what you get with me.”
“Hmm,” she says as though she doesn’t believe a word. “Big, bad, tough guy on the
outside. That’s okay, your secret’s safe with me.”
I snort with laughter. “No secret, Grace.” I like saying her name. “That’s me, inside and
out.”
“If you say so.”
“When I get you home, I’ll prove it to you.”
“Do you live far from here?”
With my arm still wrapped around her, I once again make for the door. “Nah. Just a couple
of blocks. Won’t take long.”
“Can we pick my luggage up first?”
I pause, hand on doorknob. “Luggage?”
“Yes. From my car. You know, toothbrush and…stuff.” Her cheeks are pink and she gives
a little shrug. “If I’m staying the night I need my things.”
“Sure.” My mind fills with the happy vision of Grace in my shower. I pull open the door,
keen to get home and put that particular fantasy into action.
Tension vibrates from her as we walk back into the bar. I swagger across the room,
ignoring the glances from my brothers and friends, and they soon get the message. Instead of
catcalls and jeers, they go back to their business, and Grace gives a relieved sigh as the door
swings shut behind us.
“At least it’s stopped raining.” She lowers her umbrella. “That’s my car, over there.”
I glance across the street and there’s no mistaking which car she’s talking about. It’s a
silver Mercedes coupe, and if I don’t warn my brothers the car’s off-limits, it’ll be picked clean by
morning.
She opens the trunk and takes out an overnight case, then looks at me expectantly, as
though she’s waiting for me to haul out the massive case that takes up the entire space. Is she
leaving home or going on vacation?
It’s none of my business, and I don’t know why the question even enters my head.
“You need all this shit for one night?”
“No, but I need a change of clothes.” She frowns as though something’s just occurred to
her. “Oh, you mean we’re walking to your house? I thought you’d have your car here. It doesn’t
matter, I can make do.”
She goes to shut the trunk, and I hold it open. “I don’t have a car.” Seriously, is she really
that clueless? Her surprised glance tells me that yeah, she really is. I haul her case out and
slam the trunk.
“There’s really no need.” She waves a finger at her case. “I don’t expect you to carry it
along the street. It’s too heavy.”
“The hell it is.” Even if the damn thing were full of bricks I wouldn’t back down now. “You
better have some killer underwear in here as payback.”
