Review of Dex (Kinky Shine #1) by Stephanie Witter

Dex

Rocktacular!

Genre: Rock Star Romance, Erotica

Book Length (Est.): 381 Pages

Book Description/Synopsis:

She succeeded in making him feel like a man. A normal functioning man when he hadn’t felt that way in years.

“Who’re you f*cking?”

When my father, manager of the worldwide phenomenon Kinky Shine, asked me to come and help the band members appear more approachable I never thought my first meeting with Dex Bowers would start with such a question.

Immediately, I wanted to strangle him, wipe the smirk off his face and force him to mutter more than three words.

But there’s something mysterious about him that was electrifying and the more he pushed me away and angered me, the more I wanted to know him and push through his hangups.

“Trust. That f*cking trust thing didn’t come easily to me.”

In the five years since my band became famous, not once had I been photographed with a woman. I knew it fed the supposed mystery surrounding me, but the real truth was far more humiliating than I was comfortable with.

That was until Harley Floyd walked in and I was left with a mind numbing lust for her that scared me shitless. It should be easy to let go and trust her just enough to have fun, to be happy I could finally come up with new material for our next album. But nothing was easy and with a life made of sex, drugs, and rock n’ roll I wasn’t sure if anything could last. Not even my band.

“What twenty-five year old was f*cking lost when his cock was rock hard when close to a gorgeous woman? One answer to that; a man who hadn’t had sex in a really long time.”

Jennifer’s Review:

*I received this book free from the author via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review*

When Dex first came onto the pages he seemed like the stereotypical bad attitude and downright rude rock star. Props to Harley for standing her own. She had a job to do, and although it seems like Dex was going to make it more difficult than desired she wasn’t going down without a fight. He, on the other hand, kept losing his inner battle and every time he lost he’d bring Harley crashing down with him.

“For the first time in years, a woman had my complete and undivided attention. For the first time in years, a woman fascinated me. And I was hard as concrete.”

Harley’s father is Kinky Shine’s manager and he enlisted her assistance with the band. She expected to just come in, do her job, and then leave. Dex complicated that plan and then he tore it all to shreds.

“I couldn’t decipher the look in them, I didn’t understand why he tensed or why the muscle in his jaw jumped repeatedly upon seeing me. I also didn’t get why the guys were looking at him and then at me with various stages of surprise etched on their faces.”

Dex is the perfect combination of rock star bad boy sweetness. The chemistry between Dex and Harley is crazy off the charts. Whether they’re arguing or kissing the steam never diminishes. They are both forces to reckon with and it creates a fiery atmosphere throughout the pages. It was easy to get wrapped up and lost in their story.

My Favorite Moment: The initial goal for Harley was to get the band more social media friendly and interactive, but when one of the tweets from @TheDexMystery is aimed right at her…it melted my heart.
